Further suggestions for improvement[edit]

Was it still a plank road after the Skaneateles Railroad Company took it over? It sounds as if it was but it's not explicitly clear
Track down when highway was taken over by state
- Probably whenever the Skaneateles Railroad Company went under
  - references to said company existed as late as 1904 - was this a court decision that the company lost and eventually faulted from?
  - another reference to it from 1915 - based on dates below the company must have gone under before the case was resolved
- November 1906 - contract was let for work on SH 487 (Valley Dr between Elbridge and Jordan village lines)
- 1908 - Valley Dr was included as easternmost part of legislative Route 20 (Elbridge-Rochester)
  - Valley Dr was SH 5630 in Jordan (to Clinton St) and SH 5080 in Elbridge - the SH 5*** designations confirm the LR 20 status
  - SH 5630's contract was let in May 1919 and SH 5080's contract was let in March 1911 - so it appears the SH 487 portion is/was the oldest part of Valley Dr
