Neville Wran's Marriage[edit]

Separation ended. SYDNEY'S most coveted Australia Day ticket is shaping up as the private soiree that powerbrokers Neville Wran and Jill Hickson are planning at their Woollahra home.

The glamorous party will mark the first anniversary of their reunion, following an 18-month estrangement that created headlines in July 2006 after a marriage of almost 30 years.

The former premier, who at 82 is a big wheel in the city's business circles, and his wife, 60, chairwoman of the Historic Houses Trust, recently returned to their favourite holiday spot, Lord Howe Island, to celebrate Christmas and New Year, as they had last year.

As PS has reported, Wran quietly moved back into the family home in Woollahra several months ago. The Horrific?[edit]

I'm guessing no one has noticed someone renamed him "The Horrific" (see the upper right)? I'm guessing that not his official title and it should be "The Honourable"?

Lede[edit]

The section of the Lede which covers the Luna Park fire has grown considerably, and now contains a defence of Wran which is not in the article itself, as well as now being the largest section of the Lede. I would like to propose that the section be shortened to something along the lines of "In 2021, allegations arose in the ABC that linked Wran to corrupt actions, including the Luna Park fire, though these accusations have been disputed." Short and balanced, keeping the basics nature of the claims while allowing the details to be covered in the "Named in ABC investigation" section, which I would recommend being changed to a clearer title such as "Corruption Allegations" The last two sections of the lede can then be moved to this section as they are. This bit in the lede is still wildly undue weight based on recentism. These claims were not aired for the first time in 2021, they were made contemporaneously and could not be substantiated, and the 2021 documentary is not even close to the most notable aspect of them.
I think the "corruption allegations" section title is too strong. Though there was certainly a bit of a stench that left many unanswered questions (I'd have certainly loved to have been a fly on the wall at various times), Wran was never as clearly linked to political corruption as Askin, Bjelke-Petersen or the mess of the Obeid era, and the Street Royal Commission exonerated him. Even the current text of this article has to grapple with the vagueness of any Wran allegations - underneath the dramatic framing, it doesn't even allege that he did anything at all apart from have allegedly have some dodgy friends.
There should be a section on that (and the current length is appropriate), but it also faces a whopping problem of recentism. The author doesn't appear to know that this stuff ever came up in the 80s, let alone that there was a Royal Commission, as well several related inquiries.
