Untitled[edit]

The article about Nessos Painter is very small. It only has the basic information referring to a Corinthian style painter who went on to develop his own new style. I think it would be a great idea for to try and identify the style that he has arrived at.

The article does go in further into the Corinthian style which inspired Nessos painter because it can be seen from his earlier work, such as the neck of amphora that is illustrated on the Wikipedia page. I think that I also need to focus on other styles that are related to the Nessos Painter, in order to compare and contrast the difference between the imagery and subject matter.

-I plan to use "The Geometric style:birth of the picture" article by J.N. Goldstream in order to begin with how burials contributed to the start of potter imagery. -I plan to use “Marketing an Image,” from Archaic and Classical Greek Art" by Robin Osborne in order to explore the other artists which were discovered in ancient Greece. -I Plan to use "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pottery_of_ancient_Greece" which is a Wikipedia page on ancient Greek pottery, which will lead into the history of Nessos Painter pot. -I Plan to use "http://www.indiana.edu/~uscholar/img/spring2003.pdf" which is a scholarly journal by North Jordan, from Indiana University Honors College, this journal explores Tyrrhennian amphoras that are full of animal imagery that are located on the friezes that imitate the Corinthian style, and from this article I will be able to describe the Nessor Painter imagery on the vessel. -I plan to use "http://digitalcommons.wayne.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1261&context=oa_theses" which is a scholarly journal by Heather Quinn Elizabeth Deason, that focused on the changing attitudes in Athenian Mourning and the study of funerary vase painting. She focuses further on Nessos Painter which was discovered from many of the vases he painted, exploring one of the main vases that depicts Hercules fighting Nessos.
