Names[edit]

Looking good! I'm not as close to this history, but it might be useful to identify area names then and now. Was this in Indian Territory? Nebraska Territory? Then Indian Territory, now Nebraska? Just to orient readers with the lede.--Parkwells (talk) 11:35, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Closure[edit]

Did the government sell off the land? End communal ownership?--Parkwells (talk) 11:37, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Need disambiguation page for Charles Rouleau (trader)[edit]

This links to a later Charles B. Rouleau, distinguished politician, jurist, etc. in Canada. Distinctly not a trader.--Parkwells (talk) 12:21, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Definition should be modified to restore respectful relations[edit]

I am disgusted with the constant reference on this page to "half breeds". It is one thing to mention that term at the top of the page as a reference of the actual terminology of the time, but to constantly reuse that term instead of a revised ethically accuarate description of who these people really were is extremely degrading. Even though this was the term used at the time, not unlike the racial slur like "nigger", I am sure it was and still is considered quite derogitory to those who were/are labeled as such. I expect the description should be edited to help return some assemblence of honor to those whose lives were shattered by the heartless thievery and wicked manipulation of the U.S. Government and it's representatives who stole the land of these people and thier Native American ancestors. What happened at that time was beyond tragic, and it was fueled by the insatiable greed of the capitalist robber baron mentality and it's carnivorous demand for new land to sell for profit, regulation, and the plan for eventual serfdom of it's credit shackled white heir citizens. It was a time of incomparable contempt and disrespect of the natural world and those who were living in harmony with it.--Michaels (talk) 10:40, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
