Untitled[edit]

Please stick with the facts Wikipedia and not gossip or hearsay that benefits someone trying to sell books. The statement that Eddy had visibly aged after MacDonald's death is AN OPINION of someone who believes Eddy and MacDonald had this wonderful, torrid affair for 30+ years that never resulted in anything that could have been published when they were alive. Only after they and most of their family, friends and colleagues are gone does someone try to publish books about their sad, alleged affair. You are correct Jack of Oz, this is not encyclopedic. These statements are rantings of persons trying to sell books or support the author of those books. I threw the plagiarism tag on this (I THINK it's the right one... I can't find a better one) because it looks suspicious. Very thorough, hardly NPOV article all from one account which is no longer available. If someone has the original source, could they please double-check? Also, all the blurbs on each movie is excessive. These should be moved to separate articles for each movie. Wencer 22:58, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The reference to a paternal "pure" New England English ancestry may be taken as reflecting adversely on a maternal Russian Jewish ancestry. I think "pure" should be deleted, and I've done so. Wbkelley (talk) 06:24, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the "Radio and Television" section, the reference to station WOO is probably in error, since it was a ship-to-shore radiotelephone station, not a commercial broadcasting station. The correct station should be substituted, but I don't know what it is. Wbkelley (talk) 06:24, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if they had a relationship, but I do know that if you pass up a chance to have an intimate relationship with Jeanette freaking MacDonald you've to be gay or dead. It's almost like you'd have to give proof that he didn't. Herostratus (talk) 21:10, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Russian Jew?[edit]

"Russian Jew"? Where is there any evidence that he was a Russian Jew?

JohnC (talk) 06:02, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

These Rootsweb family trees aren't great, but I usually trust them - and according to this very detailed family tree of Eddy's - [1] - his maternal grandmother (Caroline Netta Ackerman) was of mostly Dutch ancestry, and his maternal grandfather (Edward Stillman Kendrick) Anglo. The Russian Jewish thing appears to be an internet rumor; for example, this site states that his great-grandfather, Joseph Ackerman, was a Russian Jew - but Joseph Ackerman was Canadian Anglo on his mother's side and Dutch on his father's for several generations. Visibly aged?[edit]

Eddy visibly aged after the death of Jeanette MacDonald in January 1965.

Do not all people visibly age, sooner or later? I can't see that this is encyclopedic. -- JackofOz (talk) 02:02, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship[edit]

An editor removed this entire section (which I restored, for now). Surely there's stuff to salvage here.

Years active[edit]

Just noticed. He died in 1967 but was active until 1968. ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8090:1b08:b600:e8ee:96db:7ce:d98e (talkcontribs)

  • Yes, that's a bit weird. Have changed it. In future, please be bold and change it yourself! :-) — TREY MATURIN has spoken 14:54, 19 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
