What?[edit]

'Neisseria is the only disease causing gram-negative cocci.' You do read some rubbish on here. This has been deleted as the sentence is pure fraud. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.217.238.113 (talk) 12:26, 15 January 2009 (UTC) [reply]

Relationship to immunology[edit]

Neisseria are the only known bacteria which are suspectible to the membrane attack complex (MAC) of the complement system (part of the innate immune response). This statement is nonsense. Neisseria are NOT the only bacteria susceptible (or "suspectible") to the MAC.

People deficient in the MAC are very prone to Neisseria infections.

Phylogeny[edit]

Where would neisseria belong on the LUCA/Neomura Classification? Ought we to include this new classification system on the side? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.107.137.25 (talk) 08:37, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SUGGEST CORRECTION[edit]

Hi, I was researching Neisseria to determine whether family or genus. The Wiki page begins: "The Neisseria are a large family of commensal bacteria...", but further down the page it states: "Genus (family Neisseriaceae)". I'd suggest changing "The Neisseria is a genus of commensal bacteria...". Thank you. ```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.40.137.194 (talk) 20:56, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
