Inconsistent dates[edit]

I'm going to do some research to figure out the correct dates for the second, and maybe the first, bridge. The book Structurae lists as its reference is a good start, I figure. - Denimadept (talk) 21:18, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistant conversions to metric[edit]

The "Clearance below" values in feet are inconstant with the given metric values. 464 ft. are approx. 141 m but 470 ft. are approx. 143 m not 140 m. I've told it to add one digit to the right of the decimal point. I think the situation before was that the code saw two significant digits, since there was a right-most zero, and only did the calculation to that level of accuracy. - Denimadept (talk) 13:23, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Only Crossing For 600 Miles[edit]

There's a claim in the lede that: "Apart from the Glen Canyon Bridge a few miles upstream at Page, Arizona, it is the only roadway crossing of the river and the Grand Canyon for nearly 600 miles (970 km)." Since the Grand Canyon is only 277 miles long, and there's a crossing not far after that, I find this claim difficult to believe. Since the claim lacks a citation, I'm inclined to delete it shortly, unless someone finds a reliable source.--Larry (talk) 16:27, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't just lack a citation, it's rubbish! Downstream the next roadway crossing is the Hoover Dam and/or that new bridge next door; upstream from the Glen Canyon Dam there's the UT-95 bridge between Blanding and Hanksville and the Hall's Crossing / Bullfrog Marina ferry (albeit the latter isn't currently running chiz). Even the bridge on US-191 outside Moab is less than 500 road miles from the Hoover Dam according to the mapping function of a Famous Web Search Engine. Inconsistent captions.[edit]

There are two photos. The photo looking towards the south-east says the new bridge is the one on the right. The second photo which is supposedly looking towards the north-west also says the new bridge is on the right. They cannot both be right.Lathamibird (talk) 13:34, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lafe McDaniel not Lane McDaniels[edit]

Hi all, you can find the June 12, 1928 death certificate for Mr. McDaniel online via the Arizona State Board of Vital Statistics. The correct spelling of his name is Lafe McDaniel, not Lane McDaniels as misstated in the newspaper and repeated in "Death In Grand Canyon." From the death certificate you can see his wife is named Cora. You will find Lafe and Cora living in Kansas City in the 1920 census. His occupation is ironworker. His WW I registration card lists his name as Lafe McDaniel and he has a wife and two children and his wedding certificate to Cora in 1914 lists his name as Lafe McDaniel. I'll change his name in a month or so citing sources unless there is substantive data presented against that change. I have notified Myers and Ghiglieri of the error in their book.
