DYK[edit]

I suggest DYK submission should be built around the Mother Motherland statue. It is notewrothy in every respect and one of the most easily recognizable city landmarks.

On a side note we could add to the article about Kievan's perception of this lady. Originally most Kievans were annoyed greatly by dramatic change of the view they were so used to over the green Dnieper hills with the golden domes of the Lavra churches. With time, the residents got used to it and started to kind of like it since the statue appears not at all as tasteless as was its first impression and goes not so badly together with the domes. Now very few are annoyed by it and it is all over the postcards and calendars including those with the panoramic view of the right bank. Please post DYK suggestions here. --Irpen

Museum Attachments?...no?[edit]

I don't know if any of you know this but next to the actual lady there is an exhibit of Soviet weaponry (tank/planes/artillery etc.) dating from the beginning of the 20th century up until about the 80s, and another exhibit of the Soviet war in Afghanistan (1979-1989) with some more examples of the Soviet arsenal. I wasn't sure if this should be mentioned and regarded as part of the museum, or if this should be ignored and considered a coincidence (seeing as this is article IS about the Great Patriotic war). I just wanted to know what everybody thought... Bogdan 03:20, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Building 2, a short walk from the main museum, houses the post war displays which include several cold war wars which Ukraine was obligated to fight as part of the Soviet Union. This display includes a sizable collection of Vietnam War artifacts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.215.195.66 (talk) 04:30, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
