New source[edit]

The NY Times had an interesting front page article about the process of putting it together today. See here and mine it for information. --Bobak (talk) 18:37, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dedication ceremony photos[edit]

Hi, if anyone took any photos at the dedication ceremony today, please consider uploading them to Commons in the appropriate category so they can be used in this article. I've uploaded one of mine, but I didn't have a good view from where I was standing. Thanks. --diff (talk) 19:31, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Noose incident[edit]

Probably need to think about a different arrangement of the aritcle in order to accommodate the recent noose incident. [1] -- Fuzheado | Talk 15:12, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Overcat?[edit]

If this is in Category:African-American museums in Washington, D.C., why is it also in Category:African-American museums in the United States? - Jmabel | Talk 23:09, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fifth paragraph under "[c]onstruction of the museum building" probably needs splitting[edit]

Could anyone please tell me where a good sentence to split the paragraph would be? I think the one beginning with "[a]n elliptical monumental staircase ..." would be best.--Thylacine24 (talk) 19:17, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Blacksonian[edit]

@Alanscottwalker and Natemup:, I don't feel strongly one way or the other about this colloquialism, but in addition to the NYT piece, there's also this interview with Lonnie Bunch and this podcast. They wouldn't work for notability, but it doesn't appear to be an uncommon usage. Star Mississippi 01:48, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The stated rationale for the revert didn't really make any sense anyway, but yes, there are references to this nickname all over the place. natemup (talk) 02:04, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
