A note[edit]

This article was first created on April 27th 2008, by separating out (from the previous National Lampoon article) a whole section of material which was solely about the modern company, and which was not about the historical and now defunct magazine. The old article is now entitled National Lampoon magazine and is a historical piece only. The brand name rights to the words "National Lampoon" have been bought and sold by different companies more than once since the demise of the magazine. This article is about the current company that owns the brand name. Invertzoo (talk) 16:23, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

National Lampoon on the Web[edit]

I feel that this text is more a list of awards won by National Lampoon than an accurate description of its web presence. Information about the awards is still useful, though - perhaps they should have their own section or subsection?

Another note[edit]

This whole thing reads like it was written by the company. Lame lame lame. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.137.243.85 (talk) 06:41, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When did the company come into existence?[edit]

"National Lampoon, Inc. (AMEX: NLN) is a company formed in 2002 ..."

"The company may be best known in the film business for sponsoring four of Warner Bros.' Vacation films (the original Vacation, and its sequels, European Vacation and Christmas Vacation, as well as the latter's made-for-TV follow-up, Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure). Another noted Lampoon-sponsored production is Universal Pictures' cult comedy Animal House."

How can it have been formed in 2002 and be most famous for sponsoring all of these films which happened long before 2002?Originalname37 (Talk?) 20:16, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you raise a very good point here. This company really dates from 2002, however they like to try to give the impression that they have continuity with the original company that goes back to 1970, when National Lampoon (magazine) was first created. It seems that the article has had a lot of input from COI people working for the company itself. Invertzoo (talk) 14:30, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that National_Lampoon, Incorporated be merged into National Lampoon (magazine). I think that the content in the National Lampoon Inc. article can easily be explained in the context of the original National Lampoon, and the original National Lampoon article is of a reasonable size that the merging of National Lampoon Inc. will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. 104.174.62.253 (talk) 07:36, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This whole question was thoroughly discussed back in 2008. I don't know if you realize this, but I can easily check your IP address to see if you live in Los Angeles. Do you by any chance have a COI? Are you being paid to try to fix up the modern company's article? That kind of thing is against Wikipedia policy you know. Invertzoo (talk) 19:02, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
