Promotional material[edit]

A certain editor keeps adding a sentence about a session he made at the institute, while linking to his own user space and promoting his future Wiki-academy. I don't see how this session is notable and why it should be mentioned, other than for promotion. I removed the material and I ask for discussion before it is reintroduced. --Muhandes (talk) 06:21, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for removing the promotional material from the article page. I have reverted one of your edits removing an external link to Aayam, which is an annual tech event organized by the institute and hence directly relevant. Please be advised that the external link is not to the website of an external or third organization and hence does not fail WP:ELNO #19. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 15:36, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I removed an external link to http://www.aayam.org.in/ per WP:ELNO #19 which I believe, while not strictly an organization, to be the exact thing #19 tries to avoid, which is an external link to subjects listed and covered by the article, which are not notable by themselves. However, I don't think this is worth fighting over. As a sort of compromise, I used the same website in an inline citation as a source for a fact in the article. If other editors still feel so strongly that an external link is mandatory, I would not waste my time arguing over such a minor point. --Muhandes (talk) 10:04, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Puzzling phrase in the lead[edit]

I'm copy editing the article and I'm a bit confused about the meaning of "considered a new institute in the family of NIT (2006–10 session)". Session of what? (Is this an Indian usage I'm not familiar with?) Could someone explain that to me, please, so I can see how best to improve the copy? I'll continue through the rest of the article pending clarification on this aspect. -- MatthewDBA (talk) 18:54, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@MatthewDBA: ""considered a new institute in the family of NIT" meaning: B.tech program is 4 year ( 8 semesters) program and NIT Agartala joined NIT family in year 2006.So 2006-2010 was the first batch pass out from NIT agartala.
