carillion[edit]

I always thought it was spelled Carillion with two I's, which is how its usually pronounced. Seems to be common spelling [2] ---- Astrokey44|talk 12:59, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I always thought this too. Though if you search "Canberra Carillon" you get many more hits [3]. I think this is a case of a commonly mis-spelled word rather than an alternate spelling. --Martyman-(talk) 13:05, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Look it up in a dictionary, I checked five of them and all state "Carillon" is correct. None even mentioned "Carillion". In English, words often assume different pronunciations to the way they are spelt. Former Prime Minister Robert Menzies for example, we all pronnounce Menzies the way it is spelt. In fact, the proper pronunciation is "Min-gees". Capital photographer (talk) 08:45, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
