origins?[edit]

"National Day of French Canadians since 1834". The article on Saint Jean Baptiste Day says "In 1834, Duvernay established the charitable Association Saint-Jean Baptiste in order to have the Saint-Jean-Baptiste celebrated that year" which doesn't indicate anything "National". And is "National" here used in the French sense of "pertaining to the people, the nation"? Surely not the English sense of "the country" as there was no country including "French Canadians", only several British colonies independent of each other and unincorporated territories. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 19:51, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
