Notability[edit]

I originated this article. One experienced user moved it to draftspace, and the other one suggested that I may return it back to the mainspace it it would probably be nominated for deletion for the notability issue. I am moving it back to mainspace and adding the notability note, and let the community decide. Topjur01 (talk) 17:35, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The following text and discussion I moved from the top of the article to the Talk page to archive it (I hope this is acceptable, I do not know the rules):

  • Comment: It has almost always been the practice in the English Wikipedia that individual articles on candidates for political office are not accepted, but are declined and/or redirected to the articles about the elections in which they are competing. If the author of this draft is skeptical of that guidance, they can ask for advice at the Teahouse, which will probably give similar advice.
The principle that candidates for political office are normally not notable is no different in Slovenian elections than in American elections or other elections.
The originator has the right to contest the draftification by moving this draft back into article space. If so, it will almost certainly be nominated for deletion, and the community will decide whether to keep it prior to the election, or to draftify it until the election. I recommend asking for advice before making a unilateral decision to promote this draft to article space. Robert McClenon (talk) 07:26, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: People aren't automatically notable for running for office, even if they are polling high. We can re-assess notability if she wins in October. In the meantime, you can add information about her in the article for the election. Bkissin (talk) 15:11, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Bkissin, this person has been one of the most notable lawyers and public figures in the country for 20 years. How is this not notable? She has been appointed by the president and the parliament as an Information Commissioner twice, voted among the top 10 most influential lawyers at least four times, and there have been 10.000 news articles about her over two decades. These are not trivial mentions, she has been a central figure in hundreds of articles and dozens of articles mention her in their titles. Please reconsider. Topjur01 (talk) 18:54, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Per Topjur1. Return into mainspace. I am the one who removed the Notability tag and was rather surprised when the article was draftyfied. Then I saw it was not for notability, but for COI/UPE concerns for which I have been looking for the relevant discussion. Would be glad if anyone could help out. As for me the article belongs into mainspace.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 05:15, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just noticed it is the second time in draft-space. My initial answer was at a time when I was thinking it was the first time in draft space. Anyway, this time it was draftified for COI/UPE concerns and I am still waiting to be shown where the discussion is. If there is no discussion, I assume the draftifying was a mistake and we could return the article into mainspace.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 20:11, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Draft again[edit]

The user Onel5969 moved the article back to the draftspace due to COI/UPE but has not explained. Dear Onel5969, I was the originator of this article. What is the issue? I suggest we discuss it here on this Talk page to have it in one place. Topjur01 (talk) 20:03, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is that you have a clear COI/UPE conflict with this subject. Please read WP:UPE and WP:COI, and take the actions which are explained there. Onel5969 TT me 20:35, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Onel5969 They are interested in Slovak law and Musar is a prominent Slovak lawyer, bureaucrat and a rather prominent politician in Slovak politics. Where is the discussion where the COI/UPE of Topjur1 was discussed? Other than your edit summary for draftifying and here I have found nothing so far.
She is polling first with increasing numbers here in August with 24 and here in September with 31 in the Presidential elections. In a potential run off she is reported to win Here and here. The article for itself has no notability or a COI/UPE issue. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 04:35, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry Paradise Chronicle, there is an obvious connection between this editor and the article subject. They need to follow the instructions at COI or UPE. We do not give hints to COI/UPE editors on how we determine that is what is going on. This is not about notability, it is about COI/UPE. The fact that they continue to deny a connection, when it is clear they have one is not a good sign. Onel5969 TT me 10:39, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation Onel5959, but this COI/UPE is not the subject of the articles issue but the editors issue. I am also an editor of this article and I in this case I have clearly no COI/UPE issue. I can't belief there exists a guideline that doesn't allow the leading presidential candidate of an (EU) country to have a wikipedia article in main space.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 12:06, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The article is the sentence-by-sentence translation of the Slovenian Wikipedia article, which is a few years old and to which I had not contributed. Yes, I translated it to English Wikipedia. I did not edit the substance, just translated. The only content that is different from the Slovenian original article (to which I had not contributed) is the photo, and I removed the photo today. Now I am accused of UPE/COI. I do not know how to respond to allegations if you do not tell me what you accuse me of. You mentioned UPE. No, I never took any payment. You mentioned COI. The subject and I are in no family, friends, clients, employers, financial or similar relationship. We know each other remotely and have seen each other only twice, work-related, more than 10 years ago. What is the problem? Topjur01 (talk) 15:13, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Again, there is a clear COI issue. The editor continues to state that there isn't, when it is blatant. But, Paradise Chronicle, as a reviewer, you can move it into mainspace yourself, if you feel it is neutral in tone.Onel5969 TT me 15:38, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can't defend myself if you do not tell what my relationship is with the subject. I do not know of such relationship (apart from the one described above). Is she my relative? Not that I would know. So I removed my own edits due to allegations of COI. Let's let other editors write a new article from scatch. Hope this is the best solution. Topjur01 (talk) 18:40, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

First female president?[edit]

According to the list of Slovenian presidents, she's the second female president of Slovenia. 2001:A61:3A32:6901:345B:ADD3:8B6C:6831 (talk) 11:23, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vida Tomšič was the President of the People's Assembly, in a different system, so technically this is not the same function as the president in the current country. --Tone 11:31, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
