Update mentor group section[edit]

The section on the Mentor group says that the group "will meet during the next East Asian Summit in 2009". Did this meeting occur? Did anything notable come of it? /ninly(talk) 19:19, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't feel familiar enough with this topic to make major edits without more thought, but based on this search it seems to me that a discussion of the Nalanda Mentor Group should be broader in scope than one 2009 meeting. See this recent article in particular. /ninly(talk) 19:26, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nalanda International University Updates seems to provide official information about the project. It happens to be a blog though. Cwarrior (talk) 14:04, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

SCAM reported in NIU appointments and functioning style[edit]

In its Septemeber 1, 2011 report, Tehelka has reported a huge malady, scam and neglect with NIU. Non eligible persons have been given important positions, to please some political giants. While fat salaries are being drawn, hardly any progress has been made at NIU campus, whose even headquarter has been shifted to New Delhi's RK Puram residential flats, to please the "specials", as if the glory of Nalanda is even smaller than these people. A huge scam done by core mentor group persons, has been suspected, killing the great dream to have back this great university. Strangely, the man who initiated this all, Ek-President Kalam, has been thrown out of NIU. On this entire issue the central government has kept a peculiar silence, which clearly shows to what extent corruption can reach in and even undermine such pious and international efforts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.139.59.210 (talk) 07:31, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What about creating a Controversies section? Right now this article seems all too positive and hardly give a true picture of whats going on ground level. This piece from Tehelka and Economic Times can be helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.63.97.68 (talk) 13:16, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does someone know the exact location of the site? Wiki-uk (talk) 08:48, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nalanda International UniversityNalanda University – Proper name according to Nalanda University act, 2010[1]Samudrakula (talk) 08:47, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with moving the article, as per what you said and because the university refer to themselves as "Nalanda University" and not "Nalanda International University". In fact I couldn't find a single reference to "Nalanda International University" on their website (although I only took a brief glance at a handful of pages). --teb00007 TalkContributions 13:14, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article should be split in two[edit]

The article should be split in two, one about the old Nalanda "university", and one about the new Nalanda University, which has nothing in common with the old one, except for name and location. As it is the new university is only trying to exploit the fame of the old school, and portray themselves as bigger, older and better than what the sources say they are. Thomas.W talk 17:24, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I discovered that there already is an article about the old school at Nalanda, and that the history section in this article was a deliberate content fork of a major part of that article, added here to give readers the impression that the new university is connected to the old school, so I simply removed the history section here. There's a pointer to the other article at the top of this article, so there's no problem finding the relevant text for those who are looking for information about the old school.
