"NEARnet was the precursor to New England's regional Internet"[edit]

The above language implies that NEARnet was not itself "of the Internet", being simply a precursor. That is incorrect, as NEARnet was part of the Internet. Also, the idea of a "regional Internet" is ambiguous, since the term Internet is both singular and global; there can be a "regional Internet service provider," but that's not a "regional Internet". Recommend replacing first two lines with something similar to "NEARnet was a data network service enabling users to exchange electronic mail and access remote computing resources, databases, and information on the Internet, a worldwide communications internetwork.", referencing 2nd para of this MIT source <http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/1993/bbn-0714.html> --TcomptonMA 18:26, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
