Fair use rationale for Image:Tempts-mygirl-cover.jpg[edit]

Image:Tempts-mygirl-cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 08:41, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"My Girl" maybe in the original version of The Temptations is used in Stephen Frears' movie "Sammy and Rosie get laid" (1987) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.54.178.250 (talk) 22:09, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Covers[edit]

Shouldn't the Mamas and the Papas version be mentioned here? Jan S. (talk) 09:22, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I added it but @Egghead06: reverted my change citing that it was not significant enough. I find that very strange. The album on which it appears "... debuted on Billboard's Top LPs chart on March 18, 1967[1] and reached its peak position of #2 just three weeks later.[2] It spent a total of 55 weeks on the Top LPs chart.[3]". The Mamas and the papas is a hall of fame inducted group. This track is probably on all "greatest" hits releases too and have thus sold millions of copies. I fail to see how that is not significant enough.

Does it pass WP: SONGCOVER?--Egghead06 (talk) 11:48, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am not involved in wikipedia enough to really know how those subjective standards are applied. But it is certainly a well-known version and mentioned in books etc:
I would be happy to know more about those rules in practice. I see many pages where the list of covers seem more completist than very selective. It would appear sensible to me to include versions that have been in such wide circulation. It seems there is also a cover by the rolling stones.

This is not considered enough?

– This song is a huge deal: it has become one of the only few songs of the 60s to get covered by several artists. I seriously doubt anyone outside of Asia will be even vaguely familiar with the Kim Hyung-jun EP. The EP does not even have even a fraction of the notability of this song and the same can also be said about the other topics on the disambiguation page which do or don't have articles - and to be perfectly honest, I am very doubtful that any of them will ever be anywhere near as notable as this song. All these reasons explain why this song deserves to be the primary topic. Neel.arunabh (talk) 12:07, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that User:George Ho has been using"free images" in place of the original images. I don't see why the same can't be done in this article.2601:153:801:1C70:4C4F:D555:E0D6:484A (talk) 20:31, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
