The reason I added that still is I felt it was a little more appropriate for the woman instead of just her character. Comparing to the Theda page they have a lovely photo of her not all vamped up; I just felt it was more apt. As for the date I am unsure; I know it is before the mid 1920s. Why does that rule it out? And also why are you deleting the ref to Theda? Musidora was compared to Theda, and I dont see whats wrong with that. Please discuss things before you keep reverting my edits for no apparent good reason. You reverted my box earlier which basically only changed the format and the link for producer. Why?--Maggiedane (talk) 04:57, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I reverted your image as it has no referenced date per Wiki rules. Any images used have to be in the public domain or to be referenced with a date prior to 1923 for a fair use rationale. The still is from a 1915 film series, therefore proven to be prior to 1923. "Likely before 1923" is not a reliable confirmation for a date. There is also no reason to delete the photograph I uploade entirely from the article, as it it clearly confirmed to be prior to 1923, and a cropped still with low resolution, which you have continually deleted - and now see that you have tried to have deleted from Commons altogether. As for you input of "some consider her the French Theda Bara" - Who? Do you have a reference citing that she was "considered the French Theda Bara"? That is a somewhat vague and POV statement. it is already mentioned in the article that she (along with Bara) popularized the vamp persona. But, I have not seen any reference to Musidora being called the "French Theda Bara". ExRat (talk) 02:00, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well if you know the date then why not add it? I just did. I was unable to find the date as the cards I seen were from a 1970s series. OBVIOUSLY that photo was not from 1970. I am once again reverting this. I agree that I could clarify the Theda line, and I will and I will source it. I hope this settles a childish revert war. Added thought now that I've updated it: NOTHING in this article is sourced, I just had to add a ref section! I added one source, but there is an inherent problem is sourcing this article: most anything about Musidora is going to be in French. English searches do not provide much anything. I do not speak french. If you do I'd advise you to add some references where you can. --Maggiedane (talk) 02:37, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know the date of your photograph, which is precisely why I kept removing it. Let me clarify - the still that I uploaded is from 1915. I don't know the date of your photograph. Someone merely stating it was "likely before 1923" isn't reliable enough confirmation. I will not revert again as you have left the 1915 film still. However, you definitely need to reference your photograph or it will possibly be deleted by admins if they have no confirmation on dating. They are very stringent when it comes to photographs and references, much moreso than text. ExRat (talk) 02:59, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Planned updates[edit]

I am planning to reference and expand this article at some point over the next few months. My bibliography will be Vicki Callhan's Musidora: Zones of Anxiety, various works by Francis Lacassin (probably the best source for Feuillade) and a French biography of Musidora from the Avant Scene du Cinema series. I just thought I would give notice to the author of the article so that we can work together on it in a few months. Thanks, Jnorthdur (talk) 10:12, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

according to Colette's biography Secrets of the Flesh (by Judith Thurman) she was also Colette's lover, and they lived for a time during the war as a commune, with Marguerite Moreno and Annie de Pene. She wrote a memoir, and there's also Musidora the tenth muse by Patrick Cazals (in French). 92.40.12.123 (talk) 12:25, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
