Image copyright problem with File:PicassoGuernica.jpg[edit]

The image File:PicassoGuernica.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

NFCC issues[edit]

The fact that an artwork is in a museum's collection does not justify inclusion of a nonfree image of the artwork. In the case of Guernica, the purported use rationale was also cut-and-pasted from the rationale for use in a different article, and is based on specific article text which is not included in this article. Plain NFCC violation. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by many administrators since 2006. (talk) 17:28, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Guernica is not just in the collection, it defines this museum. Guernica is as important to this art museum as the Mona Lisa is to The Louvre, Monet's large Water Lilies to the Musée de l'Orangerie. An encyclopedic article about the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía would not be representative of the topic unless we include the image of Guernica, the most iconic and important artwork in Spain. It is a national and world treasure, and it is here, and a link to its article is not nearly enough to represent that fact to our readers. Randy Kryn (talk) 21:15, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
However valid those claims may be, they have exactly nothing to do with NFCC policy. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by many administrators since 2006. (talk) 04:15, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
