Talk:Mumford's compactness theorem

I am a mathematician and new to wikipedia (as far as contributions go) so I am not sure what the protocol is. Hopefully someone will take the following into account and improve the entry.

The entry is misleading as it does not mention that the compactness criterion follows from a result of Kazhdan and Margulis, namely their proof of Selberg's conjecture. If you look at Mumford's paper cited in the entry, you will see that Mumford says he has two proofs, one elementary and one invoking the result of Kazhdan-Margulis. But he does not give the elementary proof, only an outline, and does give the proof invoking Kazhdan-Margulis.
