Sorting out Ottoman Egypt articles[edit]

The various articles on MA need a good sort out, which will probably entail mergers and spinoffs, I've started a centralised discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ottoman Empire#Ottoman Egypt needs attention, and invited discussion from WP Egypt. Muhammed Ali Pasha of Egypt ancestors were from İliç a city in Erzincan. He actually has Turkish roots that intermarried with Albanians of Kavala. I would like to make the ethnicity of this dynasty Egyptian of Turko/Albanian decent. The well known Ottoman histotian professor dr. Ilber Ortaylı which is undoubtably the best Ottoman histotian alive and his tutor the best Ottoman historian ever Halili Inalcik has also been telling this for years.

About 'Great Powers'[edit]

"Great Powers" is used in this article to discuss specific historical group. However, the links provided to "Great Powers" discusses the topic as a generic idea. Clarity is needed in order to identify who were the Great Powers identified in the article.

Sultanate and Kingdom[edit]

The legal fiction of Ottoman sovereignty over Egypt and Sudan, which had for all intents and purposes ended in 1805, was officially terminated, Hussein Kamel was declared Sultan of Egypt and Sudan, and the country became a British Protectorate.

  • The legal fiction of Ottoman sovereignty in Egypt was finally ended in 1914 when the Ottoman Empire joined the Central Powers in First World War.

Stable version[edit]

Restoration to the previous version as Turkish Encyclopedia is a very dubious source. The origin section should include the basic accepted version as in the article about Muhammad Ali.
