Review issues[edit]

Both this article and the companion article Ahsham (Mughal Infantry), which really should be titled Mughal Infantry, are based on a single 1903 book. The creator of these two articles has contributed only minor items to other articles about Indian subcontinent history. I have tagged these two articles for several problems, but really only rewriting will suffice to bring these two articles up to Wikipedia standards of historical articles.

As a member of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors, I cannot tag this article or its companion for copy-editing, as the problems are too severe for that approach. --DThomsen8 (talk) 00:45, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The user has a history of copyvios and misrepresenting sources see the SPI for Sridhar100. I'm not deleting this per CSD:G5 right now as there are two other significant contributors, but a fine tooth comb ought to be used. —SpacemanSpiff 13:34, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you are not counting me as one of the significant contributors, even though I made some minor changes, because only rewriting can save this article. If the article copies the 1903 book, is that a copy violation, or only plagiarism?--DThomsen8 (talk) 15:52, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox military unit[edit]

I've removed the military unit infobox for the moment. I am not certain that the article is well-served by its inclusion, which seemed primarily intended to add a great big Mughal flag to the top of the article. But more pedantically, while there were Mughal artillery units, I don't think that a discussion about the history and technology of Mughal artillery represents an article about a unit in and of itself. The most similar article I can find in that regard is probably Artillery of France in the Middle Ages, which does not have an infobox. I'm open to suggestions here, though. Categories[edit]

I've replaced Category:Medieval artillery with Category:Warfare of the Early Modern era for now, anyway. Since the history of the Mughal Empire does not begin until 1526, all of this occurs, strictly speaking, after the medieval period. With that said, I'd like to think there's a subcategory that this should be shuffled into, but the subcategories over there are a mess. Does this belong in Category: Renaissance-era weapons? Category:Early Modern weapons? Category:Military equipment of the Early Modern era‎? Category: Military units and formations of the Early Modern era‎? Hopefully someone who has been active in the assignment of military history articles to these categories can give me a hand here. Squeamish Ossifrage (talk) 13:58, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
