Polish name[edit]

Maciej Wołonczewski and pen-name of Ksiądz Maciek seem to be used ([1], [2]), if primarily by Polish sources. What's wrong with having them in the article? A footnote on usage in Polish historiography or lang-pl template could be added for clarification.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk 22:54, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be specific per WP:UE is there are any specific policy which says that name non established EN name should be used over established one? M.K. 06:42, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pen name[edit]

Can we see translation from source which about pen name? Is it polonized Lithuanian names? Is it a pen name or just name used for security reasons? M.K. 06:45, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The title Ksiądz Maciej Kazimierz Wołonczewski zwany "Ksiądz Maciek". could be translated as Reverend Maciej Kazimierz Wołonczewski alias Reverend Maciek. //Halibutt 08:32, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Polonized or Lithuanized?[edit]

Is Maciej Wołonczewski polonized from Motiejus Valančius, or is Motiejus Valančius lithuanized from Maciej Wołonczewski? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 17:37, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you'd read the article you'd know for certain.--Lokyz (talk) 19:34, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding one category[edit]

Marcelus, Motiejus Valančius cannot be categorized in Category:Polish diarists (which you keep adding [3], [4], [5]) because he does not fulfill a necessary criterion for inclusion in the category, namely nationality. Adding a category to a page that does not have the necessary characteristics for inclusion in it goes against WP:Categorization. If you do not remove the category yourself, this matter will go to the noticeboards. Cukrakalnis (talk) 13:45, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Cukrakalnis To be fair the only nationality category he fulfills is "Russian", but I guess you don't want to go in that direction. Marcelus (talk) 14:06, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Russian diarists says This category is for diarists from the country of Russia. Motiejus Valančius does not match this criterion either. Regardless, you have indirectly admitted that he does not fall under the Category:Polish diarists. Ergo, the category should be removed. If you don't remove it yourself, this matter will go to the noticeboards, in accordance with Wiki rules. Cukrakalnis (talk) 14:12, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cukrakalnis Strictly speaking nationality means "which country's laws the person is subject to", which in that case means Russia for certain. His ethnic identity was Lithuanian, his certainly to some degree defined himself Polish, which is obvious from his memoires. But if you want to remove that category, go for it Marcelus (talk) 14:24, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Besides your WP:OR about his certainly to some degree defined himself Polish, which is obvious from his memoires, which goes against Wikipedia's core policy of WP:Verifiability, the statement But if you want to remove that category, go for it is very disingenous, considering that you are taunting me to do a 3rd edit about that category (I have already done two: [6], [7]), which would be considered WP:EDITWAR, which is contrary to Wiki rules. Thus, your statement fulfills the criteria for incivility according to WP:IUC, namely (a) taunting or baiting: deliberately pushing others to the point of breaching civility even if not seeming to commit such a breach themselves. Cukrakalnis (talk) 14:36, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cukrakalnis It's not OR because it's my personal opinion voiced on a talk page. I'm not adding it in the article. I won't report you, and I'm not taunting you, I just don't like your tone. Marcelus (talk) 14:41, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot trust you unless you remove the category yourself. Cukrakalnis (talk) 14:44, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Marcelus please remove the Category:Polish diarists or I will add this interaction on the talk page between us two to the complaint at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#User:Marcelus_repeatedly_breaking_WP:NPA_and_doubling-down_on_it as a case of you taunting me, which is incivility according to WP:IUC. This case is problematic considering that we have both been blocked today from editing a certain page ([8]) and thus you encouraging me to do an action that could be considered as WP:EDITWAR fulfils the definition of taunting.--Cukrakalnis (talk) 16:24, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cukrakalnis I am not taunting, but I'm not your servant Marcelus (talk) 17:15, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Responding with I'm not your servant to a civil request (motivated by a want to avoid WP:Editwar) to remove a single category that you wrongly added is WP:UNCIVIL due to it's disrespectfulness. Cukrakalnis (talk) 18:27, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm not your servant Marcelus (talk) 19:05, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
