The Trivia part about the heat is unquestionably uncited. All I can say is that I was present at both performances and witnessed both events. However, it's only trivia and I shall take no offence if it gets deleted. PDAWSON3 (talk) 10:10, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was there ONCE (for the Edgar Broughton Band in 1969) and wore a suit, much to my shame! M.P. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.110.227.144 (talk) 13:57, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, Soft Machine's eponymous "Third" album was also recorded at Mothers (effects, such as tape reversing, were done later in a London studio), which fact is acknowledged on the inside of the LP cover (and reproduced on the insert of the CD version). I also know because I was there. In fact, I was a fairly regular visitor to Mothers, but I'm having great difficulty remembering what bands I saw there. The only ones that I can be sure of were: Argent, Principal Edward's Magic Theater, Graham Bond, The Edgar Broughton Band (I remember the guy in the suit - I think he may be the reason why they played "Out, Demons, out" at full volume all night), Soft Machine, Roy Harper, Blodwyn Pig, Fairport Convention, and Family. I may have seen any of the other bands mentioned in the article, but I just don't remember. At any rate, I can endorse the opinion that Mothers was up amongst the best music clubs of the 60s and it is nice to find that it has been remembered on Wikipedia. the "vandalised" blue plaque may just be the result of sunshine onto it[edit]

the (unofficial) plaque faces the sun and that may have resulted in the whitish fading across it. It is the case with many other cheaply produced blue signs (bus stops etc) that face the sun in Erdington in Birmingham.

Carlton Ballroom[edit]

Should we say something about the Carlton Ballroom, before it became Mothers? I was about to add The Moody Blues to the list of famous bands but then realised that they were pre-Mothers. --Roly (talk) 14:16, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
