Recent move[edit]

The article was recently moved from North Bohemian Basin to Most Basin on the basis that the latter was the WP:COMMONNAME. Well we need to be careful because for most of the last couple of centuries, the former was easily the most common according to Ngram Viewer. In the last 30 years, Most Basin overtook it, but recently its prevalence has fallen again such that they are about equally common. I'm not going to push for a renaming as it's not clear where the future will take us, but for now, both names should remain prominent, not least so readers can find what they're looking for. In Czech, Most Basin (Mostecká pánev) is the official name of a geomophological region, while North Bohemian Basin (Severočeská pánev) is rather used to indicate a geological region. The two regions basically overlap, the use of names is tied to purpose. Geomorphological division is used in Wikipedia. FromCzech (talk) 12:57, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, that's helpful and Wikipedia should therefore use both to help the reader understand the distinction. Bermicourt (talk) 07:47, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
