My typo[edit]

David Leav, Mort's son, was kind enough to take the time and effort point out the erroneous year of his father's passing. I acknowledged my unfortunately significant typo at Wikipedia:Help_desk#Mort_Leav and wanted to do so here.

I'd say my error was mortifying, but it wasn't Mort's fault! :- )

And 2006 is absolutely right; my source, Alter Ego #58 (May 2006), p. 68, does indeed say 2006, and I did a typo on the last digit that made it a "5". I'm happy and gratified that the highly talented Mr. Leav's son has come to Wikipedia to see his father's bio here.

Moments like that (my typo aside!) help make this all worthwile. Bob Powell's son contacted my Talk page a couple months back to say, "I enjoy the fact you have taken the time do a page like this!" -- Tenebrae 13:25, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Not A Typo[edit]

The date for Mort Leav's death, originally listed as 2005, was not an error on the creator's part. Mort Leav passed away September 15th, 2005. I have adjusted this information accordingly.

(He would, by the way, appreciate the pun.)

Would I be correct in assuming that Dora is a member of the Leav family? I'm very proud to be able to have written about Mr. Leav. So I guess I had the year right, thought I had it wrong, but was originally right. Oy! :-)
One thing if you could clear up: I went to the Social Security Death Index (which I should have done in the first place), and they have Mortimer Leave, SSN 110-12-9691, last residence, Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts, being born 09 Jul 1916 and passing on 21 Sep 2005 (not 15 Sep), and next to the death date specifying: "(V)=(Verified) Report verified with a family member or someone acting on behalf of a family member."
Please help out with the discrepancy. Thanks! -- Tenebrae 01:44, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, at this Wikipedia posting, someone claiming to be Mort Leav's son, David Leav, gives the date as Sept. 21, not Sept. 15. We kind of need to address the difference. --Tenebrae 01:50, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's ironic that I should mention typos only to have my own pointed out to me. Thank you for addressing that -- you are correct in my grandfather's date of death, which was indeed 21 September 2005. Unfortunately I was not present for his death, and so have only had paperwork and a bad memory for numbers to rely upon. Embarrassing to say the least, but I'm glad that my grandfather's memory has vigilant fact-checkers like yourself available.
Thank you again for what you've done. Stumbling across this wiki was quite the experience. I am only hopeful that artwork can be contributed to it in the near future.
