untitled[edit]

Somebody who actually knows about this guy should check this over; I just cleaned up the prose as best I could, and checked the facts with what I could find online. RobthTalk 04:06, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The opening paragraph under 1970s and 1980s needs some work.... Day was in a band with Prince...Prince embarked on a solo career...The Time was composed of 4 members from an earlier funk group...the lead singer had not been chosen...Day, was in a band called Enterprise, allowed Prince to have a song, Prince returned the favor by giving Day the job of lead singer...Day suggested Jesse Johnson, who completed the band's ensemble.

How did Prince have anything to do with The Time? Wasn't he embarked on a solo career? Was the Time 4 members looking for a lead singer, or was it 4 members, plus Day, plus Johnson? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.42.191.228 (talk) 21:11, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Morris Day and The Time[edit]

Frequently (for instance on the page Minneapolis/St. Paul there are references to "Morris Day and The Time." In the case of that article, I made the link go to the article on The Time (band). I was thinking of creating a redirect page for Morris Day and The Time but maybe it would be better to have it be a disambiguation-type page.--Larrybob 18:22, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Morris is my nephew. Just learned this after talking to his mother who is my sister. Knew him as a child as "morry" but didn't know till yesterday April 22, 2006 that Morry was Morris Day. Pretty sure he was born in Springfield, IL. not Minneapolis. My sister didn't move to MN until 1964. User:Lycurgus.
I'm aware Morris's site/publicist says that he was born in Minneapolis. Still SFAIK, this is false. I don't believe they moved to MN till after 1962 when I remember them being in Springfield. I was a child so, I suppose they could have been visiting, but I don't think so. I believe the user Novavon is his mother so if she weighs in on the matter, should carry weight. Eugene Knight?[edit]

The "Unofficial Homepage" of Morris Day and The Time (see link on The Time's infobox) lists Morris's real name as Eugene Knight. Their website seems pretty thurough so I would trust that more than some wiki-user claiming that Morris is their nephew. How would someone "just learn" that Day is a close relative, long after his heyday in the 80s? Thoughts? --MistaTee 20:49, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No It Isn't[edit]

As I stated above, Morris is the son of my sister, LaVonn Daugherty and takes his fathers last name which is Day. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lycurgus (talkcontribs) 14:30, 14 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

As it turns out, Morris sometimes does use 'Knight'. Dunno about Eugene, but it was my fathers middle name. Lycurgus 13:04, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Added picture of Morris to online family album [1]. Lycurgus (talk) 00:46, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

removed "series"[edit]

I removed the following as I could find no reference to such a series with Campbell: "He starred as Curtis on the short-lived 1988 series, Heart & Soul, along with Tisha Campbell."--SidP (talk) 19:22, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Morris Day did star in an NBC pilot called "Heart & Soul" in July of 1988, with Tisha Campbell and Clark Johnson. Only one episode aired. The video was recently shown on YouTube, but unfortunately it was removed.

Here's an archived review of the premiere episode from the Atlanta Constitution-Journal:

These are still good links so adding this back in per what the sources say. Lycurgus (talk) 19:39, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth[edit]

As per WP:DOB (a section of the WP:BLP policy) I have removed the uncited exact date of birth from the article. It should not be restored unless it is not only cited, but cited to a source or soures which make it clear that the date has been widely published, or else published with the subject's approval. This might be clear if the sources is itself notable and widely published, or if there are multiple reliable sources, or if the sources says or plainly implies that the date was published with the subject's consent, or in other ways. The day and month of birth of a living person are of little encyclopedic value, while making them public can contribute to identity theft and other problems. The year suffices to place the subject in chronological context. See WT:BLP#Dates of birth and info boxes for discussion. DES (talk) 01:42, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Origin[edit]

I seen nothing in the source cited for "origin" in the infobox but I have seen multiple sources saying Morris Day was born in Illinois. Does anyone have a solid source for Minneapolis as his "origin"? UnbelievableError (talk) 05:32, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Morris, as I stated above in '09. is my nephew, his mother is my step sister. Springfield is where my paternal family and he and his sister are from and presumably were born. They moved to MN pretty early though, by mid 60s. Lycurgus (talk) 08:52, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Morris Day and Prince in high school[edit]

According to an interview on Letterman, Morris Day and Prince were in a band together during their high school years but did not go to the same high school.
