HELP![edit]

HELP! My 1940 reference book claims that Monessen is a borough, not a city. Please clarify that datum. Monessen may belong in a different category. TooPotato 11:45, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

(The following words are contained in an encyclopedia). In Connecticut, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania the term "borough" is applied to incorporated towns or villages of a lower grade than a city. William Penn's charter to the territory west of the Delaware river authorized him in 1681 to erect the country, among other divisions, into boroughs similar to those of England. This system of boroughs continues in Pennsylvania to the present time.

Greater New York, by an Act passed by the Legislature of 1897, was made a city, composed of five boroughs - Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Richmond.

Monessen may not be a city. TooPotato 18:07, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

Monessen was incorporated as a third class city on September 16, 1921. TooPotato 01:10, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Robocop[edit]

This video (clip from film The Villains of Old Detroit), I believe, at 3:18 says that Monessen was used for the steel mill location in the original Robocop film. Jason Quinn (talk) 00:44, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
