This page needs some serious tidying up - the English is a very low standard.

Lack of Neutrality[edit]

Isn't wikipedia suppose to be neutral?? Why is this section on Dahlan SOOOOOOOOOO pro-Hamas while at the same time so anti Fatah!!??? The moderator of this page should step in and interfere. What about all the crimes Hamas committed in Gaza, why isn't this mentioned?? Presenting the PA as villians, while presenting Hamas as the victims??

Cleaning up[edit]

I removed the line "Dahlan ignores the fact that when the PLO and Hamas use civilian facilities for the storage of arms and ammunitions or use same for intellegence and/or planning operations, those facilities and any civillians in it are then legal, legitimate targets under the Geneva Convention" which featured after Dahlan's opinion on targeting civilians.

Well, the article does not cite enough sources and for instance claims that Dahlan was involved in 'terrorism' against Israel in the 80s without really presenting any proof for his involvement in anything other than belonging to a political organization that Israel didn't like. Relationship with turkey[edit]

Dahlan's relationship with Turkey is well known, and not controversial or hidden. Everything is sourced. Please don't remove it Berocca Addict (talk) 19:28, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You cant use sources like Arutz Sheva and global-watch-analysis.com. Some of the sources seem fine, but they largely are not. Beyond that, this article very much is in the Arab-Israeli conflict topic area. nableezy - 21:35, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is no material now on the relationship between Turkey and Dahlan. This is despite the Turkish Government seeking his arrest via INterpol, twice, despite allegations made by the Turkish Government on his connections to the attempted Coup, and despite allegations made by the Turkish Government about his connection to the murder of jamal Khashoggi - None of these things are related to Israel in any meaningful way, but you've reverted them and prevented me from re-adding them. Weapons to Libya[edit]

In April 2011, the PA announced that Dahlan was to be investigated following reports that he had been responsible for the selling of Israeli arms to the embattled Gaddafi government. ^[1]
- Source is Arutz Sheva, specifically used to ensure there was no potential for anti-israeli bias. Additional sources include MEMO, The Afro Middle East Centre, The Strategic Research Association, United Press International. Arutz Sheva isnt usable anywhere, especially a BLP. UPI's reputation has taken sustained hits since its acquisition in 2000 and I would also not use that. Give me something more mainstream. I would consider Arutz Sheva as "reliable" for quoting people aligned to them; say Yesha Council spokespersons. Dahlan, for all his sins, its quite there, yet, Huldra (talk) 23:26, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ICC Investigation[edit]

Following the release of papers on Wikileaks, it was discovered that Dahlan was has been investigated by the International Criminal Court for his involvement with Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the second son of deposed Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.^[2]

Fatou Bensouda, the chief prosecutor in the International Criminal Court wrote to the Palestinian Authority stating;*

In furtherance of this investigation, my office seeks the assistance of the Government of Palestine in relation to the alleged involvement of two Palestinian nationals, Mohammed DAHALAN and Mohamed Borhan RASHID, ... whose involvement with Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi, Abdullah Al Senussi, and other individuals potentially most responsible for the most serious crimes under the Rome Statute, is of concern to the Office.
My Office seeks your assistance in identifying details of their relation to such crimes, including potentially aiding and abetting their commission.

Source used is Middle East Eye, David Hearst's operation. There should be no issue with this source, it's a reputable and verifiable source, and itself was subject to a failed legal proceeding by Dahlan.
- That being said, additional sources include Libya Observer, Libyan express, MEMO. There is also the primary source, made available from wikileaks but as a rule WP shouldn't use these - Berocca Addict (talk) 20:24, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Middle East Eye has been discussed at RSN with the most that can be said for it is that it is usable as an attributed source. Being investigated by the ICC should result in better sources than Libya Observer. Give me something more mainstream again. nableezy - 23:16, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Accusations of involvement in Coup[edit]

Following the 2016 Turkish coup d'état attempt, which saw an attempt to overthrow Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey, Dahlan was investigated for any potential role that he may have played.^[3] The European Council on Foreign Affairs posted that senior Turkish intelligence officials stated

"The UAE government collaborated with coup plotters in Turkey before the unsuccessful attempt was launched, using exiled Fatah leader Mohammed Dahlan as a go-between with the US-based cleric [ Fethullah Gulen ] accused by Turkey of orchestrating the plot."

Libel action[edit]

When the former Chief foreign leader writer for the Guardian, David Hearst, published this allegation in the Middle East Eye, adding that that Dahlan was alleged to have transferred money in the weeks before the coup attempt and to have communicated with Fethullah Gulen, via a Palestinian businessman based in the US, Dahlan brought a libel case against the publication. However, on September 11th 2019, hours before Hearst was legally bound to disclose all electronic documents and material relevant to the case, Dahlan dropped the case. This meant that Dahlan was obliged to pay Hearst's legal costs, estimated to exceed £500,000.^[4] In a press release issued on his Twitter account, Dahlan claimed to have “achieved his goals” in the English courts and was now pursuing legal proceedings against Facebook before the Dublin High Court. The article published in 2016 is still on the site in its original form.

Arrest Warrant and bounty[edit]

In December 2019, Turkey issued an arrest warrant for Dahlan, describing him as a "regional pawn of the UAE", accusing him of "organising the 15 July coup attempt with the Parallel State Structure/Gulenist Terrorist Organization [FETO]"^[5], added him to the countries "most wanted" list^[6] and placed a $700,000 bounty for information leading to his arrest.^[7]
- The Source here was the national Turkish broadcaster, TRT, which, again, should be perfect as a source - but additional sources include Reuters, Times of Israel, Al Jazeera, MEMO, Anadolu Agency, Jerusalem Post - Berocca Addict (talk) 20:24, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Accusations of involvement in Khashoggi murder[edit]

Following the 2018 murder of Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Embassy in Istanbul, the Turkish "Yeni Safak" newspaper claimed that few days after Khashoggi’s killing, Dahlan organised for a team of four people to arrive in Istanbul and cover up the crime by erasing any evidence might be found inside the Saudi consulate.^[8]
- The source here is clearly stated as Yeni Safak, arguably the newspaper with the closest relationship to the Turkish Government. Additional sources that the claim was made include MEMO, i24, Daily Sabah, Jerusalem Post and Al Araby. - Berocca Addict (talk) 20:24, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Interpol Warrants[edit]

In December 2019 and again in August 2020, Turkey tried to issue an International arrest warrant for Dahlan through Interpol, however this was rejected by Interpol as a breach of article 3 of their constitution; "It is strictly forbidden for the Organization to undertake any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character." ^[9]
- The source here is Global Watch Analysis, largely because they quote the relevant part of the INterpol constitution. Other sources, however, include MEMO, Al Monitor, The European Council on Foreign Relations, The Warsan, Al Araby - Berocca Addict (talk) 20:25, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
