Densities[edit]

The may be some confusion over conventions in stating formulae for this distribution. Given that f is decribed as a probability density function, it must integrate to one. Formulae given in "astronomy" literature may be more like weighting functions, and in the case of the density/weight for R there may be an extra multiplication by r or 2r whenever the weight function is used in astromony. There may be a need to state separately how the distribution is actually used in astronomy, but as long as f is decribed as a probability density function, it must integrate to one.
