_________________________________________________________________________

I created this page to participate in the Miles Davis discography, even though it is a various artists/compilation type album.

It is significant as it contains Miles' first recording session for Prestige, as well as being the source for side 2 of the ... With Horns album.

I so far have no way of knowing in which format the Miles material was released first, the two 78rpm singles or the 10"LP

I suspect all the other tracks were earlier released as 78rpm singles, not just Miles' tracks (because of the recording dates), but have not had time to sort it out.

They might all be found listed here: http://www.jazzdisco.org/prestige-records/catalog-78-rpm-300-700-800-900-series/single-index/

I don't know enough about the other three artists to add any meaningful text particular to their recordings, but if someone else does please add it immediately below the personnel and recording date section for that artist as I have done for Miles. I envision this page participating in all four artists'discographies one day.

Birth of the Cool[edit]

The Birth of the Cool recording sessions clearly predate these sessions, and the majority of them were originally even released before these sessions were released, in the format of the times. The Birth of the Cool page refers to several different compilations of the material. Dating that material to 1957 seems both arbitrary and confusing. I humbly request that it take its correct place in the navigation, and that the freeze be taken off this page. I assert that my revisions were not POV. That's an incorrect use of POV.
