This whole page is out of date and has some wrong information in it...

Number of ships[edit]

Different parts of this article seem to provide different numbers of ships. Can someone who knows more about this topic please correct the article so the number of Moa's is made clear? I assume its five, but the article seems to suggest that 6 were ordered and 4 entered service as patrol boats so its a bit confusing. --Nick Dowling 10:21, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HMNZS Hinau (P3556), HMNZS Wakakura (P3555), HMNZS Kiwi (P3554), HMNZS Moa (P3553) were the 4 Moa class IPC's for the reserves, (Based in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin sorry I can remember which vessel was where) and then HMNZS Kahu (A04) which became a dive tender after some modifications, she was initially named HMNZS Manawanui (A09). You then had the two white (ISV's) Inshore Survey Vessels, HMNZS Tarapunga (A07) and HMNZS Takapu (A08) based on the same hull

Succeeded by: Protector-class IPV[edit]

The Moa Class IPC's were operated by the reserves and never did regular patrols as such they only did the odd patrol of their area of influence as well as training for the reservists. The Protector-class which is more commonly known as the Lake Class IPV's were replacing the older Lake Class IPC's of the same names and pennant numbers.
