Merge proposal[edit]

  • Oh, I didn't reallize there's Indian pickle too. I see you merged achar in which is good, but this article has a meaning for mixed pickle that's not the Indian pickle, so it can't be a straight redirect. You might as well merge all the material on Indian pickle into that article though and leave this article with a link to it and the description of other meanins. - Taxman Talk 14:07, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I just noticed the description of Western "mixed pickle" with carrots, onions, etc. I don't know if that's correct info.--Badagnani 14:10, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A google search for mixed pickle, though dominated by the Indian variety, did come up with a few recipes that confirmed my suspicion that western mixed pickle is made very similar to pickled cucumbers, in vinegar, not oil. I added a cite for that type, though that may be better merged into other articles on pickling and pickles, and make this mixed pickle article a disambiguation. In either case, go ahead and merge the rest of the material into Indian pickle. - Taxman Talk 15:36, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I just noticed pickle is kind of a mess, it redirects to a disambig which is bad practice. I'll move the disambig to pickle and try to clean it up. So far it doesn't link to Indian pickle, but does link to Lime pickle which is yet another redundant article in need of cleanup. - Taxman Talk 15:41, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose As noted above, and with added link to USDA information about pickles, this article is about two different items sharing the same name. I agree with Taxman above, that most information about Indian pickle can move to that article, but there is really no place to go for the information about western mixed pickle. --SFDan 09:17, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mixed pickle - western[edit]

I have prepared an article on the western style mixed pickle, ie vegetables pickled in vinegar unlike the asian oil style, but I am unable to put it up or merge into the current 'mixed pickle' due to the current article being tied to asian cuisine. How about renaming the current article 'mixed pickle, asian' and I can put up my notes as 'mixed pickle, western' or something along those lines to fall into the correct conventions. The appropriate links can be put in each article pointing to the various articles on asian or western cuisines. - Geotek 18:28, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
