Comedy Store Strike Section Censored?[edit]

I was one of the leaders of the Comedy Store Strike and I can tell you that the immediate issue was sexual harassment. The strikers believed that Mitzi was sexual extortion, a female Harvey Weinstein. I was just a "Monday Nighter" researching a screenplay and never met her, but the stories that I heard were painful and I remember that they were covered extensively in the press.

Article Subject[edit]

This is supposed to be an article about Mitzi Shore so I removed a lot of stuff about Sammy Shore as that is not directly relevant. If anybody want to make an article, and thinks they can prove notability, for Sammy Shore then please go ahead. While they are at it, please can they have a go at proving notability for Mitzi Shore as this article

could eb deleted as it currently stands. --DanielRigal (talk) 19:16, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're right we really should put together something for him. Hes a comic, he co-founded the Comedy Store and he's Pauly Shore's dad. Thats BLP3E; should be plenty to work with. Unfortunately I know nothing about him so I need to do some homework before I can get him past delete patrol. Jay Dubya (talk) 17:23, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

founded/took over.. which one is it?[edit]

Marc Maron stated that she did not founded the club but started as an employee. As soon as I find a reference I'll change it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.117.14.96 (talk) 05:25, 5 April 2012 (UTC) One reference is the book We Killed: The Rise of Women in American Comedy. You can find relevant info through Google Books. It says Sammy Shore founded the club, then turned it over to Mitzi. Wikipedia's Comedy Store entry indicates she acquired the club through a divorce settlement, but no reference is supplied. Bustter (talk) 05:51, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

she both co-founded and took over the club. I'm adding a number of reliable sources to extend the article content, however the divorce clim and cofounding with her husband are confirmed by the LA Times. Jay Dubya (talk) 15:15, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
To elaborate; at the time of the founding of the club Sammy and Mitzi were married without a prenup. Their property and debts were shared through marriage. Regardless LA Times and Philly Inquirer explicitly list her as "co-founder". Mark Maron is a former employee and as a result not a reliable source in this context (also, he is an infamous sh*t talker in general); certainly he's less reliable than the newspapers. I've added inline citations into the article at the relevant points to confirm. Im happy to discuss further or help edit should there in fact be a controversy about this, but given the weight of the sources currently cited I think we should have at least one newspaper that confirms a controversy. Because this is a BLP and clearly this woman's life's work we have some standards to meet before impugning that. Jay Dubya (talk) 17:20, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

References + Content Improvement[edit]

I've added an additional 9 references bringing the total to ten. Corrected basic bio information like number of children (4, not 1), DOB, place of birth and age. Expanded the infobox and added an image. As mentioned elsewhere references confirm her as co-founder of the club and that she got total ownership in divorce from her husband. added info on her suing HBO, her secondary video production company, and her attempts at liberalizing the comedy scene. added info on her acquiring parkinsons and how this lead to a lawsuit and dispute between two of her sons over money and operations of the club. finally, ive got three sources confirming pre-production of a movie about mitzi from tom hanks' production company; one o the sources has a direct quote from pauly shore about it.

Due to the above, Ive removed the references tag as even if half of these refs are disputed there is enough to meet BLP standards there. Still left to do is to extend content enough to break down into sections if we have enough for that much content. Also, we could use some sources other than newspapers. For example theres got to be some books on US comedy history that mention her. Let me know if I can help or you have questions / concerns about any of my rewrite, thanks. Place of birth discrepancy between infobox and text of article[edit]

The infobox states Mitzi Shore was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The article states she was born in Menominee, Michigan. I don't know which is correct. Bunkyray5 (talk) 21:16, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
