Hmm, there already are infoboxes for Moria and Rivendell. And I can't find an article for Fangorn the forest! 'Fangorn' redirects to Treebeard. And if you are talking about inclusion Fangorn, Moria and Rivendell in the realms section in the infobox for this article, then I don't think so. Moria is within the Mountains; the Mountains are not located in Moria. Rivendell and Fangorn are realms in the vicinity, next door neighbours, if you will. Fair use rationale for Image:Misty mountains.png[edit]

Image:Misty mountains.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. The above comment referred to the original article, which had the length as 795 miles. This seems rather too precise, and possibly fails to take into account the Misty Mountains north of Mount Gundabad (an error in the article which I hope to correct). Names in bold[edit]

I understand that bolding is essentially for the name of the article and alternative names.

At least twice now I've tried to convert the erroneous name Hithaiglin from bold to italics, and have placed the genuine alternative name Towers of Mist in bold. Every time my edit has been reversed. Perhaps someone can explain why the erroneous Hithaiglin should be promoted above the genuine alternative Towers of Mist?

Personally I don't think Hithaiglin should be in the introduction at all, except as a footnote.

BTW, in my opinion Mountains of Mist is not a true alternative name, but merely a rearrangement of the main name (Misty Mountains). Cheers. 203.6.146.5 (talk) 06:12, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:BOLD discusses when it's appropriate to use boldface; in this case only the name of the article and names that one could have been redirected from should be placed in bold. "Towers of Mist" does not currently exist as a redirect, though I suppose you could create one. The other items are in bold because they are redirects presently. Cheers. Thanks for responding. I've done some digging. The article Robert Plant#Lyrics lists several LZ songs as having JRRT inspirations. There is likewise no citation there, although I'd imagine that LZ fans would be up in arms if this was incorrect. Furthermore, the several links are noted in detail in Amon Hen (the bulletin of The Tolkien Society) no. 122 (1993, p.24), and supported by an article by another well-respected member in AH 123 (p.5). The latter article states inter alia, "Robert Plant [now] speaks deprecatingly of his 'Tolkienesque stuff'..." and gives the source of this apparent quote ("Tolkienesque stuff") as "Robert Plant in Vox, May 1993". I'm afraid sourcing isn't my strong suit (I usually limit my editorial interactions with it to "there or not there"), so it might be best to see what other editors have to say, but this sounds reasonable to me. Yes it is a magazine: Vox (magazine). I've now obtained a copy of the orginal article, and this confirms the quote. I shall therefore re-instate the Misty Mountain Hop reference, and I have also added citations in the articles on Robert Plant and Misty Mountain Hop. Removing original research[edit]

I just removed the unsourced speculation that the Misty Mountains were inspired specifically by works of E. R. Burroughs.
