Division/de-sourcing of description of event looks POV[edit]

At this diff you divide the 1999 source - Ayesha Ahmad, Muslim Activists Reject Secular Fundamentalism, IslamOnline, April 22, 1999. See also Minaret of Freedom 5th Annual Dinner, Edited Transcript, Minaret of Freedom Institute website. by inserting material about events that happened to Sami Al-Arian four plus years later. In your revert of my material, you even delete the first of two uses of the ref. A very short rendition of the facts of what happened four years later belong either in a footnote or in a sentence at the end of the section. And if you are going to put those in, for balance one would have to mention that he met Bush in 2000 and supported him. Otherwise it's just guilt by association POV that must be deleted in WP:BLP. I hear you. Will try to give this a look, or you should feel free to make the edits you propose that are more informative (second option). I'm happy to have the fact that he met Bush at a campaign stop and took a picture w/him and his wife and his own family, and was in favor of him, etc., if you think that is notable. I'm not sure that it is in my view, but defer to you on that if you feel it important. Thanks for discussing. BTW -- Is IslamOnline an RS? Thanks. If we are going to discuss what led to the USF action, it would be inappropriate btw IMHO to say that it was "due to his activism"--though again, if you want to discuss his explanations for saying "Death to Israel", "Damn America", and whatever else is discussed (Jews are monkeys and swine, etc), that's certainly fine with me as well. My point was that neither is terribly relevant since they happened after this specific event. One sentence in text or footnote is about all it merits. I guess I need to bring same issue from both pages to appropriate noticeboard when I figure out which one.
IslamOnLine is probably reliable since it has editors and is not self-published. Go to WP:RSN and ask if you have a doubt. If you keep the sentences together, they are talking about his stating having problems due to his activism opposing "secret evidence." Before any prosecution. I don't know what you are talking about by "USF action" but for those other alleged statements, if you don't have WP:RS evidence he said those things, your comments are a violation of WP:BLP and should be removed per:

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced or poorly sourced defamatory or otherwise controversial content into an article or any other Wikipedia page.

Just at a quick glance, it looks close enough to being accurate that I'm ok. As to the various USF actions, I've never seen an RS say anything other than that they were due to his statements against the U.S. and Israel and in favor of jihad pre-1999, investigations into his purported terrorist links[1] (which, in an encylopaedia, make the final guilty plea in that regard relevant), or (after 1999) the disruption caused by threats of violence prompted by reaction to his purported terrorist links, etc. My main concern was to the article previously saying it was due to his activism .... that's like saying Bin Laden is on the US watch list due to his concerns about the civil rights and appropriate treatment of people. But I think we're fine now. As to the libel tag--this has nothing to do with that, but since there is no controversy there's no need for me to say more.--Epeefleche (talk) 19:51, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
