Military of ChinaMilitary of China (disambiguation) – I propose that since the primary topic of China is the country more fully title the "People's Republic of China", the primary topic of corresponding phrase "Military of China" is the current military of China, which is the People's Liberation Army. I note that Chinese Army redirects to People's Liberation Army Ground Force (part of the People's Liberation Army), and Chinese Navy redirects to People's Liberation Army Navy (also part of the People's Liberation Army). The superstructure that contains both army and navy, the military as a whole, should similarly redirect to the name of that military. I would therefore move this page to its "Foo (disambiguation)" title and redirect the current title to People's Liberation Army. bd2412 T 20:12, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: If Military of China becomes a redirect to People's Liberation Army, then I don't think a disambiguation would be necessary. The article on the PLA could have a hatnote referring readers to the military of the Republic, while both the articles on the military of the Republic and that of the People's Republic could get a hatnote referring users to the pre-1911 military history. It seems to me that replacing two hatnotes with one hatnote pointing to a disambiguation page with two links is not useful. Knight of Truth (talk) 23:19, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have no particular opinion on that proposal. I think the disambiguation page, if kept at the "Foo (disambiguation)" title, is basically harmless. bd2412 T 01:18, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment if this is reused to redirect to the PLA, then this should definitely be moved, since we have aricles on the militaries of various dynasties that should be added to the list of articles on this page. However, the PLA is not the only military force in the PRC... the PAP should also be listed on this page. -- 65.94.79.6 (talk) 03:14, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I do not think that the People's Armed Police would be considered a "military". Many nations have national police forces with some paramilitary aspects (SWAT teams and the like), but which are not considered military forces. bd2412 T 16:48, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
