What is "Mildura"[edit]

What is "Mildura"? The article presently says it's a "locality". Is it a "city" (before this edit), a "town", a "locality" or something else? I favour either city or town. --Scott Davis Talk 12:23, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mildura is a city [1]. -- Longhair\talk 12:25, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Mildura, Victoria is a homestead, a locality, a city and a Victorian Legislative Assembly seat (and historically also a Shire and a Borough). These are not the same thing. The article is about the locality - the opening paragraph references the city that it is in. matturn 09:19, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Planned City[edit]

I noticed that this article is in the "Planned cities in Australia" category, but there really isn't much in the article to show that this is the case. 203.206.183.5 (talk) 03:20, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A look at the city map would give you a hint that it is a planned city --Rougieux (talk) 14:41, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's a planned city based on the layout of another planned city Uplands, California and devised by the Chaffey brothers, backed by the Victorian water minister, and later PM Alfred Deakin. http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/chaffey-george-5544 http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/chaffey-william-benjamin-5619 Bacondrum (talk) 23:39, 1 October 2018 (UTC)the streets of Mildura are indicative of a planned city with east-west running streets numbered ie: First Street, Second Street...etc running from the river southwards. North-South Streets are named after plants and place names with the old CBD mostly being fruit baring tree names ie: Walnut Ave, Pine Ave, Lemon Ave, Lime Ave, Olive Ave, Almond Ave etc.[reply]

Mildura is not on the map[edit]

Mildura is making headlines worldwide as for a while Apple said Mildura was not not on the map. Is this worthy of being put on the Wikipedia article?

No, it is about as notable as your shoelace breaking! Worldwide? wasn't on the front page in Uruguay. Cheers Crusoe8181 (talk) 11:15, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
My cousin emailed me from Ireland to tell me the place I was living in didn't exist and that people were getting lost in the desert as a result of it not being real :D...that's worldwide, Ireland is on the other side of the planet. Bacondrum (talk) 23:43, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Localities around Mildura[edit]

In the Infobox there's a section called "Localities around Mildura". It lists six nice places in Victoria around the points of the compass, but for the two directions across the Murray River it simply has a link to New South Wales, as if it's the dark side of the moon. Why don't we show the names of places across the river? HiLo48 (talk) 10:18, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Given this a few days. Apparently nobody cares, or nobody looks here. So I'll boldly fix it. HiLo48 (talk) 08:08, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You haven't said in what way you think the coordinates need fixing. I've tweaked them a bit to point (roughly) to the city centre, but if you think there are other problems, you'll need to give a clear explanation of what they are. Deor (talk) 13:40, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Population[edit]

Should the population figures be completely revised? There seems to be considerable confusion between the city and district.Brycewhite (talk) 22:00, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Done. LatjiLatji2021 (talk) 02:37, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Climate and maximum maximums - Source?[edit]

Earlier today I reverted a change to the April Record High temperature, because no changed source had been provided. I have since realised that the Record High temperatures in the climate chart in the article don't exist at all in the source. (A very good source. The Bureau of Meteorology.) Where do the Record High temperatures come from? And the record lows? HiLo48 (talk) 08:35, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Vassilieff from Mildura?[edit]

I'm sure Mildura would love to claim him, but he only spent a year in Mildura, in his late 50's. Danila Vassilieff was in-fact born in Kagalnitskaya, and grew up in the Rostov Oblast, Russia. Definitely not from Mildura.

How do you say "Mildura"? Is it /mɪlˈdjʊərə/? If so, somebody can insert that text. If not, it can be corrected. Kelisi (talk) 22:38, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
