opening paragraph[edit]

He just said on his talk show that his middle name is Darrow. He revealed that it saying James has been wrong the whole time. So lets make sure we get it correct.

This page smacks POV. "This sickeningly politically correct approach is part of what makes them the least hard-hitting show on the radio"? You've got to be kidding me.

Sorry, but "Said morning show happens to be one of the worst things on television today" represents a POV. Removed said comment rather than NPOV it. NPOV?[edit]

This comment, "However, many pundits question whether this tandem is cut out for an NFL broadcast, or if they are simply an ESPN creation better left for their usual morning slot", violates the Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons guidelines. Baseball commissioner?[edit]

I have questions about the item, "Announced on April 18, 2006 his desire to be the next MLB commissioner when Bud Selig's contract ends in 2009." I left it in because it is properly cited, but I wonder. Is this a real desire to be commissioner, or is it just an opinion piece on Greenberg's blog? MLK incident[edit]

It's true that Greenberg said what he said. It's true that a Chicago Sun Times blog reported what he said. Those two facts, in and of themselves, do not make the MLK incident "relevant" to his ESPN career. The fact that there was no meaningful followup coverage in reliable sources should establish that. Alleging that Greenberg's comment was a Freudian slip simply because he has mentioned making such slips requires a citation from a reputable source establishing that he said he makes Freudian slips. I'll assume good faith on the part of the IP editor who has been reinserting the MLK incident, but I strongly question the relevance of including what appears to be a simple spoonerism, even if it has racial connotations. As an African American and a scholar, I take serious offense to ObtuseAngle's refusal to allow a notable event in Mike Greenberg's radio career stay up on this page. Based on the above comment, I can safely assume that ObtuseAngle does not consider the ample discussion of this incident in the African-American blogosphere "meaningful". Such ignorance is despicable. I question whether ObtuseAngle has an objective interest in this fact remaining on this page or whether the efforts to keep this fact off this page are related to Greenberg's new book or possibly utter racism. As ObtuseAngle confirmed above, this incident happened and it received coverage. I don't have any connection to Greenberg or ESPN. I probably read too much into the word "controversial." I apologize for that. In reading the Sun-Times blog post and the Black Sports Report post linked therein, it seemed to me that calling Greenberg's statement "controversial" was a bit strong, given the swift issuance and seemingly quick acceptance of his apology. I saw your edits as an attempt to cast Greenberg as a racist, which was itself a racist assumption on my part, one not supported by any evidence whatsoever. I realize now I was not actually assuming good faith on your part. I apologize for that as well. My parents didn't raise me like that. More on MLK[edit]

I've reverted this recent edit. There may be a way to cover this incident in the article but I don't think that was the way. It didn't reflect the content of the source it cited (which was Greenberg's note about it): it included unsupported claims about how controversial the comment was, and also characterized Greenberg's note as an apology, which is not quite right--the tone was humble but Greenberg was denying the allegation. As such, it wouldn't work per the WP:BLP policy. I'm not convinced this was a significant incident, but if it was and is going to be covered, the coverage needs to cite sources that indicate that is was significant and controversial, not just that it happened. Middle name[edit]

He was on TV this morning saying that his middle name (James) has always been wrong on this page, and that he wanted it to stay incorrect as a lesson to his kids about not trusting what you read on the Internet/Wikipedia. Middle name[edit]

Apparently Mike's middle name was incorrectly listed here as "James", and he commented on his radio show the morning of 2014/03/25 that it's always been wrong and he uses this as an example to his kids not to trust Wikipedia. He said his middle name started with a "D" but didn't elaborate, and of course Mike Golic had fun guessing ("David", "Darius", "Delores" etc.).

This explains the rash of middle-name edits today.

This page has been subject to a number of small hoax/vandal edits. Example: subject middle name was changed to "jerk", religion of family was changed several times recently. Semi-protected edit request on 25 March 2014[edit]

I would like to edit Michael Greenberg's name to 'Michael Darrow "Mike" Greenberg'. The name was previously incorrect as it had James as his middle name. On his radio show he mentioned this and many people edited his middle name on wikipedia trying to guess what it actually is. He stated on the show, 3-25-14, that his middle name is Darrow.
