“European dress”[edit]

The woman is NOT in "European dress". This is a very clear example of an üçetek. She os wearing Ottoman clothing. Something could be said of the fact that she is in a mosque without a çarşaf, but it is absolutely not western-style clothing of the era. Singingcanoe (talk) 06:32, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging @Medarduss: Hi, what does the source say about her style of dress? The statement about European dress seems to be sourced to an offline book source? MartinPoulter (talk) 10:28, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have not been able to read the offline source but in looking for it I found that the Edhem Eldem JSTOR source clarifies (on page 358) that that the dress is, in fact, an Ottoman house dress. Singingcanoe (talk) 16:42, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I can't remember where I found that about European dress; might have been an error on my part. Thanks for updating the article and changing that. Medarduss (talk) 19:39, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
