Flags[edit]

MOS:FLAG states that "flags should only indicate the sportsperson's national squad/team or representative nationality". As far as I can determine from this and other boxing articles, boxers do not represent a country in any sense, and thus the flags cannot be used in the list of matches. Use of flags there violates WP:NPOV, because it over-represents the importance of nationality in a person's identity. As such, I have removed the flag icons. Boxing is an Olympic sport and Miguel Cotto represented Puerto Rico at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Though as a professional I agree he doesnt represent a country in any sense other than symbolically. nableezy - 22:29, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I actually agree, but this is probably something that should be discussed with the boxing WikiProject, since the list of current champions features flags (quite heavily). - Caribbean~H.Q. 05:28, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

About his birthplace...[edit]

This is his biography at the original website of Promociones Miguel Cotto. Both of his parents are Puerto Rican and he identifies himself as Puerto Rican, so that fact doesn't really change a thing. However, we should also strive to guarantee the accuracy of these pages. - Caribbean~H.Q. 00:04, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, even the source next to his birthplace states the Miguel Cotto was born in Rhode Island. Rebelplutarch (talk) 04:21, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A fans opinion[edit]

In my opinion, Miguel Cotto is not only a truly great Champion, but he is a man of great passion, and integrity! I have watched him grow to the top of his chosen profession. Win, or lose, he is always a true gentleman!

I know in my heart that if he decides to fight Conello Alvarez, he will prevail! HE will win with experience,.power, and general ring savvy!
