"haunting", "efficient", "substance and credibility to what would have been just another band of rock chicks", ... No sources for these claims, and it'd have to be rewritten even with sources provided, or quoted. -- Jeandré, 2006-07-22t20:54z

Steel?[edit]

Her name is Michael Steel, not Michael Steele. Please change the heading spelling.(I fixed the surname where I could. Hi RP) Thankyou. 2006-11-12

Michael's stepdad was indeed Tommy STEELE, a British Pop singer whose major hit in the Fifties was 'Nairobi' on Dot records - Patsy Cline was also on the Dot roster. Tommy's "Everything's Coming Up Broadway" record was kind-of sideswiped by the phenomenal success of The Beatles' first U.S. release, "Meet The Beatles". Tommy's record was released late due to a fire at the factory that was making the acetate masters (used to press the 'Vinyl LP' phonograph record format) in the early Sixties ~ just in time to meet the competition head on. Tommy was a mega-talented artist and engineer - he also did the orchestral arrangement for Richard Harris' Mid-Sixties hit, "Mc Arthur Park", and participated in many various 'infrastructure' engineering projects throughout the world. - Steven C. 'Perky' Perkins

I reverted as per [1] and [2]. Please see WP:V before changing back to "Steel". -- Jeandré, 2006-11-13t18:53z

Michael?[edit]

Does anyone know when Susan Thomas officially changed her name, and what she changed it to? Possibly more importantly, why? (Why Michael, which is commonly considered the masculine form of that name?) 41.240.8.212 08:27, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My mother, Mary Ferne (...and her half-sister, Margaret) used to babysit her. The origin of the name is biblical ~ King Saul's youngest daughter: as mentioned in First Samuel Chapter 18. .Same chick The New Christy Minstrels' hit, 'Michael Row the Boat Ashore' was written about... ~ Biblic........ I Love You Michael. I Am Sincere. ...so when? - Steven C. 'Perky' Perkins

Does she really 'need' a reason?--RP

Her stepfather's name is Tommy Steele. Obviously, she adopted that as her surname. She probably adopted the male surname "Michael" in order to project a "tough" image for the Runaways lead singer. She continued to use the name because it suited her purpose. When a British TV interviewer asked Michael that exact question in 2001, it floored her to the extent that she could only mumble "what?" and then blamed her response on having a hangover. -- Elaich talk 01:44, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Elaich, do you have any citations for these claims?--RP

Re: "Does she really 'need' a reason?", whenever an artist chooses to change his/her name (consider David Bowie, Prince, Sting, etc.) it's a reasonable question to ask "why?", and why they chose the names they did. Asking why doesn't imply denying anyone's right to change a name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.68.91.151 (talk) 17:56, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jeandré du Toit[edit]

This article has become uneditable because of his WP:OWN issues. If there was ever a verifiable instance of WP:OWN this is it. He rejects all references as 'unreliable' and reverts any and all edits on his own whim. The next time he reverts edits without cause, I am taking this case to admin. -- Elaich talk 01:53, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please read wp:v, wp:blp, and wp:rs. Re [3], see wp:cite and google the year with "site:bangles.com". -- Jeandré, 2009-03-09t14:24z

NNDB not an RS.[edit]

Is anything known about her personal life?[edit]

Is anything known about her personal life? Where she was born? Names of her parents? Does she have any siblings? Where was she educated? Is she married? Has she ever been married? Does she have a "significant other" -- male or female? Is there a Wikipedia contributor who can provide some of this information without committing the ultimate sin of "original research" please? 2603:800C:3A40:6400:B97B:71CF:BCF5:1D1D (talk) 19:26, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
