Transfer to Manchester United[edit]

His transfer to Manchester United has not yet been agreed or anything yet. He is still regarded by the law to be a Spurs player as his professional contract still lays with this club.

So why does the article say that he is now a Manchester United player. Niall123 20:30, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Michael's brother[edit]

Can anyone tell me what happened to Michael's younger brother, who also used to play for West Ham United? His name is Graeme Carrick and I think he was born in 1985. --212.200.196.227 17:20, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Strong in Every Department"[edit]

I've removed this quote. It wasn't cited and wasn't very true. The general concencus is that Michael Carrick isn't very good at tackling and lacks pace. [1] Niall123 12:55, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Number of caps[edit]

To the member 80.*, he has more than 1 cap, definitely. SoccerNet says so. x42bn6 Talk 17:29, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Goals for Manchester United[edit]

Carrick has definitely scored more than 3 goals for united. 2 against roma, 1 againsy sheff utd, 1 against villa, i against reading, and maybe more, i cant remember off the top of my head 86.14.246.217 19:45, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The total in the infobox is for league games only, which is why his goal tally is only 3. Dave101talk  20:13, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Full name[edit]

Michael Carrick only or Michael Adrian Carrick? Littlemissdevil (talk) 07:23, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unsure. No credible sources state his middle name is Adrian.  LATICS  talk  07:49, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Underrated[edit]

Ironically, there are numerous news sources describing Carrick as underrated [2], and this should be added. 86.8.176.85 (talk) 04:36, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Height[edit]

Listed between 1.83 m and 1.89 m.

Looks about 1.88 m to me.

He's at least 2 cm taller than Wes Brown who's listed everywhere as 1.85 m.[3] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.194.245.8 (talk) 02:40, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My sources say that Carrick is between 6'0" and 6'1", meaning that he's no more than 1.86m tall. Estimating players' heights based on how they look when standing next to each other is an extremely imprecise science and should not be used here. – PeeJay 07:44, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Names of Children[edit]

I'm trying to find some more reliable sources for the names of his kids but I can't find anything. I've got The Times confirming his daughter is Louise here but oddly can't find anything about his son. Anyone know anything about him? Starting to begin to doubt whether he exists. doomgaze (talk) 12:48, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've replaced the dead link that ref'd his daughter's name (Salvation Army magazine feature on his mother, who ought to know the name of her own granddaughter) with a working and stable-looking version, so that doesn't need fixing. Unfortunately, the only publications that are actually interested in the names of footballers' kids (apart from Rooneys and Beckhams, that is) are celebrity gossip pages, so you'll be lucky to find anything better... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:25, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers for replacing the link but I've read through it and (unless I missed it) I can't see anything about his son, so if it's ok with you I'd rather replace it with the Times source (it's a bit easier to find the info there too haha). I see your point, but for Louise there's a fair number of brief snippets that he had a daughter or that his missus was expecting and so on, and then some more significant bits from the not-that-reliable tabloids. But there's nothing in any of the tabloids about a son. To be honest I'm pretty surprising this got through GA with kickette.com as a source. "We promise to never write about real news like transfers, sports stats or the offside rule – because 1. we know you’re already getting that information elsewhere, and 2. we know you know your footy inside out. Instead, we pledge to offer as much in-depth frivolity and superficial reports of hot players and their nice automobiles as is possible within our regular manicure schedules." Seriously? doomgaze (talk) 13:47, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Carry on, by all means. Though a throwaway line in a broadsheet piece about football isn't inherently more reliable for family info than a reputable, albeit not mainstream, magazine feature about a member of Mr Carrick's close family. As that piece dates from rather before the boy was born, it's not really surprising it doesn't mention him... As to the kickette link, I'd have removed it myself long since if I'd ever happened across anything better. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:10, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 28 November 2021[edit]

Place of birth needs corrected. Wallsend is in North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear and not Newcastle Upon Tyne. 31.111.70.93 (talk) 16:09, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@31.111.70.93: Thanks for pointing this out, I've corrected it. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:40, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
