Line 12 status[edit]

Line 12 has been officially announced, though the actual route has not been given yet, the intersections with their lines and the terminus location has been given. I'm working on updating my kml file to reference this line. It should be done by this weekend. You can find it here: [1] I wasn't sure about the exact location of a couple of them, though, as you'll notice, especially for the terminus, Tlahuac. Maybe you can help me with that?

Fair use rationale for Image:Metro zapata.gif[edit]

Image:Metro zapata.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Would it be important to mention that it is not allowed to take photos or video inside the metro? As far as i know it is because it is considered a strategic building or something like that. Would need to find out exactly why, though. Gigakight (talk) 03:55, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Use of the word "superficial"[edit]

This article uses the word "superficial" several times. As a native English speaker, I am unaccustomed to this particular use, although I suppose it's sort of correct, as one of the meanings of "superficial" is "near the surface". However, usage of this word is normally taken to mean "little more than appearance" or "without substance". I think it would be better to say "surface", but I am not sure exactly how the lines & stations in question are built, so this word may not be entirely correct either. --BetaCentauri 19:31, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It appears to be a translation from superficie, meaning 'at ground level'.

Fewer tables[edit]

Hi. I'm about to start a major reconstruction to this article. My main goal is to wipe out redundant information; see for example how many times are the colours of a line repeated. The "network" section should only include a brief introduction to the lines (a single table would work) so the rest of the info can be moved into the main list of stations page. REDIRECT Mexico City Metro per WP:STATION[edit]

As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced articles I have completed a merge and redirect of all the metro stations in Category:Articles lacking sources from October 2006 or at least all the ones with article names that begin "metro". The lack of references made all the articles fail WP:V and WP:N, the solution per Wikipedia:Notability (Railway lines and stations) is to merge them all into the main article. Section on stations[edit]

Could this be merged? Perhaps just use thumbnail images for the stations and link them to their separate articles? The geo-referencing and the sporadic blocks of texts look ugly in the scope of the article and dont add anything that cant be found on their individual pages. New Map Urgently Needed[edit]

Over the next few days I will be uploading a new scaled map based on the given location of every station. I've tried to follow the actual railtrack for each line. It counts all 195 current stations, including all 20 stations of line 12 and renamed stations on lines 3, 6, 8 and B. I'll be ready to add future line 12 stations ("Valentín Campa Salazar" and "Olivar del Conde") when needed, namely early 2014 --Fluence (talk) 07:37, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fares and pay systems[edit]

Either the section has an error, or something is unclear. One paragraph says, "The price for a single day ticket is currently MXN $5.00," or MXN $3 or zero, depending on eligibility. Another paragraph says, "STC Metro rechargeable cards were first available for an initial cost of MXN $10.00. The card would be recharged...to a maximum of MXN $120.00...for 20 trips." At MXN $5 or less per single day ticket, 20 trips would cost a maximum of MXN $100, not 120. Dubious statistic[edit]

As of 1960, 38% of Mexicans over the age of five were illiterate and only 5.6% of Mexicans over the age of six had completed more than six years of school.[1]

This makes no sense. How could any child of six be expected to have completed more than six years of school? Should that say "sixteen"? Or is this just badly expressed? I have commented out that last bit until somebody can check that book (I don't have it) and find out what that should really say. It is badly expressed at most. Not being able to access a book is not a legitimate reason to remove content. In simple terms, it is meant to say that only 5.6% of the population had finished elementary school the 1960s and 38% of the population were illiterate.
