Metrol redirect[edit]

The title 'Metrol' originally redirected to this article. However, I do not see as of this edit that 'Metrol' is used as a term in the context of the article's topic. 'Metrol' is also brand name for the marketing of the pharmaceutical Metoprolol; if the term has meaning in relation to Metlink, please add that context to the article and a dablink can be set up between the two articles using something like {{Redirect}}. Regards, User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 15:46, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I created a stub for Metrol, at Metrol, Melbourne rail network, and made a dablink on Metoprolol. However, I'm beginning to think that the Melbourne Metrol should be at Metrol, with the dablink to Metoprolol (after all, "Metrol" is not the "real" name for "Metoprolol"). Suggestions? --Evan C (Talk) 06:38, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think a move of Metrol, Melbourne rail networkMetrol with an appropriate dablink on the new article to Metoprolol would be fine. I'll change the redirect accordingly in a moment (i.e. Metrol redirect → Metrol, Melbourne rail network). If you want to go the route discussed, please use WP:RM. Should your new stub article appear in the See Also section of the Metlink article? User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 17:14, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Public Transport Victoria[edit]

So the government decided to rename Metlink to Public Transport Victoria on April Fool's day, without telling anyone. Copy most of the content to the PTV page, turn this into a historical page, or just merge (as with The Met)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bramley (talkcontribs) 13:02, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MetlinkMetlink (Melbourne) – The Metlink in Wellington needs to use the Metlink link because of an outdated adjacent stations module (s-rail/s-line) which defaults to Metlink (this article) instead of Public transport in the Wellington Region (the article for Metlink in Wellington). Unfortunately, the old module doesn’t accept Metlink|Public transport in the Wellington Region and just defaults to Metlink. I would also remove the redirect for Metlink and instead it would direct you to Public transport in the Wellington Region and then create a disambiguation template over there to direct you to this article. This is mainly due to the fact that this Metlink branding has been out of use for almost 10 years. I understand this would break links/create dead links, but I’m willing to go through them and change them all manually. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject_NZR#New_Zealand_Adjacent_Stations_Infobox_Template_Issues for more information. Fork99 (talk) 23:22, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I shouldn’t say module, it’s actually a template (that’s how obsolete the old s-rail system is compared to the adjacent stations module). I would also add Metlink (Victoria) and Metlink (Australia) as redirects. Fork99 (talk) 23:31, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Opposed @Fork99: I found a number of Auckland railway stations which currently link to Metlink without any disambiguation, in Melbourne eg Waikanae railway station [1]. So whatever happens something needs to be done to change those. There is also an inconsistency between stations. when defining the operator title some using {{s-rail|title=Metlink}} (also see list of links above), while others such as Newmarket railway station, Auckland show it as {{s-rail|title=Transdev Auckland}}. For consistency, as all stations are operated by Transdev, changing all stations to Transdev should eliminate the problem.Fleet Lists (talk) 01:37, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Fleet Lists: Waikanae is in Wellington not Auckland. I'm confused with your argument, that's the point, that's why I want to make Metlink redirect to the Wellington one. Yes I do agree with the Transdev changes in Auckland though. I'll also add that to the to do list. Fork99 (talk) 01:44, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Fork99:Yes I had also just picked that up - in case of the Wellington stations it should be Transdev Wellington as there is also an article covering that. Redirecting Metlink to Wellington would make it even more confusing. I would still be opposed to that.Fleet Lists (talk) 01:55, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Fleet Lists: Oh I think I get what you mean. I guess for consistency it makes sense for them both to be Transdev Auckland or Transdev Wellington. Some Auckland stations use AT Metro instead of Transdev though, so it would make sense to change those as well. I’m also unaware if there happens to be a agreed convention in the NZR wikiproject about this issue, so I don’t know if changing this would be welcomed, so I’ll try and talk to a NZ editor to hear their thoughts. Unfortunately most of the NZ editors are all retired, so that’s mainly why it’s such a mess over there with lots of unresolved issues. In the case of changing all of them to Transdev (likely to happen), could someone uninvolved please close this request in 7 days. Or if somehow (unlikely now at this point) there is consensus to move, then feel free to do so as well. Thanks. Fork99 (talk) 02:06, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Fork99:It is also noted looking through [2] that many stations such as Petone railway station still show Tranz Metro as the operator - this badly needs updating to bring them into line as Transdev Wellington. Fleet Lists (talk) 04:37, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Fleet Lists: Yes I was already aware of that, those do really need to be updated. Some also mentioned the old name KiwiRail Scenic when the current name is The Great Journeys of New Zealand. I’ll start on it soon. Thanks, Fork99 (talk) 04:41, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. There is no provision for an exemption to WP:NC just to avoid fixing the template. Andrewa (talk) 10:09, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Close This issue has been resolved without the name change and without any template change. Basically some stations pointed to the wrong operator which has been fixed.Fleet Lists (talk) 10:35, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
