May 2010[edit]

There are a number of differences in the text introduced by the edits on 20 May 2010.

The first think that is not clear to me is what was the year of suspension "Parliament passed an ordinance on 14 June"

The second one is why was the sourced information that "Mercurius Civicus was suppressed by Parliament because of outspoken loyalty to its king." removed? And also the additional information about the author in the last paragraph?

I thought the date was evident by the issue number that resumed publication, but I have now inserted it to make it clearer.
Mercurius Civicus supported the Parliamentary side, not the Royalist side. The cited source (actually J.B. Williams, not Ward or Sheppard) is incorrect. Since the source was incorrect about that and appeared not to know that "R.C." was Richard Collings (which he should have, it being suspected at the time his article was published, if the dates are correct), I cut the biographical information because two of the statements (poor and loyal) were obviously in error.
