Discussion about notability of soundtrack.[edit]

Hi person with IP beginning in 37, let's have a discussion about the inclusion of the commercials soundtrack in this article. 96.54.57.109 (talk) 12:17, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion the soundtrack of a commercial almost never becomes notable enough to add to an automotive article, I certainly don't think that the song used in a single reveal video meets that standard, but I am happy to look at your argument for it's inclusion. If any one else wants to weigh in feel free. 96.54.57.109 (talk) 12:16, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There is not so much to add: this is an encyclopaedic voice about "Mercedes-Benz X-Class", where everything about - on separate sections - is collected. Mainly content certainly is car and motor specifics, but also the name and the artist of soundtrack of the video advertising can have his place in this voice of Wikipedia.
In example, a section in future will probably be "famous people driving Mercedes-Benz X-Class", with subsection "in really" and "in fantasy": this is not a specialized cars newspaper. Technical section is one part, but is not the only with right to exist.
...by the way: i don't think your problem is that you don't like the "We are young" song by Blues Saraceno, right? ...;)

In my opinion the reason you added it had a lot to do with you liking the song, I would assume that whenever you see an ad you do not endeavor to find the name of the song and add it to the advertiser's wikipedia page, if everyone did most large wikipedia articles would be 20 to 60 percent "in 20XX XXXXXXXX relesed a commercial for the XXXXX featuring the song XXXXXX by XXXXX" repeated ad nauseam.
Focus is important to keep wikipedia articles about what is in the title not about 500 editors tangents accumulated over the years. For the same reason the song is not notable nor would "The Mercedes-Benz X-Class's valve stem caps are made by Qingdao Plastics group a joint venture with Ningbo Rubber Products International." so to prevent articles from being filled with such accurate but irrelevant information wikipedia policy asks that one must keep to the topic of the article, here is the relevant policy WP:TOPIC and WP:ROC in which is is clearly stated that " The most readable articles contain no irrelevant (nor only loosely relevant) information" read these two bits of policy and get back to me.
Oh also your "famous people" section would violate WP:TRIVIA.
PS I think the song is pretty good but not what I would personally listen to. 96.54.57.109 (talk) 20:57, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You're almost right when you think i like the song; indeed i very like how the song meet the video, and the idea of connection between some part of the lyrics ("young at heart") and who can really buy the truck (not so young people, but people young inside; and also the truck is young, for mercedes). Away from this, i think infos about the first ad-video (and any relevant on it) can be rightly placed in a wikipedia voice of a truck that is not already on the road: this is about the road-map of production/promotion. About everything else, not all the rules match the right choice everytime. regards.
