Untitled[edit]

Hello peoples. I proposed performing major additions to this article. It is interesting that someone put the link for Prosiect Down the bottom as I was coming in to do just that because I used to work for them. They have a really good archive of things, especially things that can be scanned (or I did them already!). Can I go ahead? - Chris Owen 08:50 21st November 2005

Fine with me. I actually added the link following a discussion with the Prosiect Menai team in Menai Bridge. I suspect that there is a balance to be struck between having the detail here or on the Prosiect Menai web-site. Also bear in mind that there are also articles on Britannia Bridge, Thomas Telford, Robert Stephenson and Menai Bridge which might benefit from additions.

Huh? Hugely greater?[edit]

"but was so hugely greater than anything previously built"

I would rewrite that as "was so much larger", but I am not sure that this bridge was actually the largest of it's kind. I'm not even sure exactly what the original author meant. Steve Jobs should drop the "insanely great" phrase because "hugely greater" is just so much greater. Maybe a bridge expert can fix this ...

Nearest village?[edit]

New photo[edit]

I believe that there needs to be a new photo of the Menai Suspension Bridge to be on this article. The current one isn't the best quality and is a picture from far away. I recommend a closer picture of the Menai Suspension Bridge and a better quality image such as this one which is used on the Wikidata, ^[1] for the Menai Suspension Bridge. Images and facts should constant in every language.

Sandy seabed?[edit]

The article currently says: "Because of the high banks and fast flowing waters of the Strait, it would have been difficult to build piers on the shifting sands of the sea-bed . . " - now this may be taken directly from the reference but I don't know, not having access to it. It seems more likely that the floor of the strait would be bedrock here, given the power of the tidal currents which scour it, not sand. And why would 'high banks' make it difficult to build piers upon whatever seabed foundation it might be? Geopersona (talk) 10:57, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
