Nancy Mack Tappan[edit]

This guy is fascinatiing. I recently got copys of his Survival Guns ane Tappan on Survival books. Does anyone havve any sources of info that we could add, on his wife? (Mrs. Nancy Mack Tappan. If I find anything, Ill add that. BobbieCharlton (talk) 19:00, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cause of death[edit]

One doesn't talk to survivalists without hearing the name Mel Tappan. He left an investment business in Los Angeles in 1974 to found a survivalist mecca in Rogue River, Ore., the place he deemed safest from nuclear attack. A former medieval literature professor, he soon became the survivalist voice of reason; his book, Survival Guns, is a bible in the field. Perhaps because he was so important to them, most survivalists still speak of Mel Tappan in the present tense, preferring to ignore the fact that he is dead. He died last November at age 47 of kidney failure. ^[1]

Regarding his cause of death, there is a number of accounts, but none substantiated from what I can yet see.
