Mee siam mai hum[edit]

Stop adding the mee siam mai hum part back. Is rather irrelevant unless you could phrase it in a way suitable. Please discuss in here before reverting.

Mi kati[edit]

Why is "mi kati" mentioned in the mee siam article. There doesn't seem to be much similarity other than that both dishes are made with noodles. - Takeaway (talk) 12:50, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are you Malaysian/Singaporean, or even Thai? Have you tried both Mee Kati and Mee Siam? Do you know that Mee Siam differs greatly in how it's cooked and served even in Malaysia and Singapore? While we're at it, Mee Siam as served in Malaysia is actually quite close to the Thai Mee Kati, except there's no coconut milk in the gravy and the Malaysian version has sambal belacan added to the seasoning sauce mix. Also with the name, unless there's a specific cultural context in place (for e.g. air bandung and mee bandung have nothing to do with Indonesia's Bandung town, but so named as a result of local lingo), it's quite clear that the dish has Thai roots from the name alone as well as the unmistakably Thai-style sweet and sour taste profile. It's quite likely that Mee Kati itself is originally a Thai-Chinese dish, based on the ingredients list (taucheo, bean sprouts and chives are very Teochew, I think). All three versions have tamarind as a key ingredient, and only rice vermicelli is ever used.

I guess you must have been editing under IP 220.238.97.9, who's edit I reverted because the edit summary given was very WP:POV and not backed by any sources. Perhaps next time instead of saying things like "utter nonsense" to other people's POV content but including your own non-sourced opinion in your edit summary, you can use such neutral phrases such as "removed unsourced content".

As to what my background is: yes, I do actually have Thai, Malay, Singaporean and Baba-Nonya roots and although I grew up with all four cuisines (and with a few additional cuisines), I wouldn't pretend to know which country and/or culture specific dishes like mee siam originally hail from. The name does imply that Siam-Thailand would be the source country, and the ingredients would indeed imply that Chinese people were somehow part of its creation but how directly involved is difficult to say as foodstuffs of Chinese origin have been incorporated in the Southeast Asian cuisines for many centuries. So without any reliable sources it's very difficult to say much about the relationship between mee kati and mee siam. Also, if I notice anything that according to me isn't correct for whatever reason, I will revert it including your edits as is normal in wikipedia. Semi-protected edit request on 25 November 2021[edit]

This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request.

Unregistered users removed references from the page and claiming that they are of different person. Similar situation happened before in Milo dinosaur. The admin conclude that a known sock-puppet Ineedtostopforgetting has been editing the page with multiple accounts to create illusion of support. The user now refrain from edit with wikipedia account, thus many IP pop up in this page Robepang (talk) 12:41, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
